Capital One Premier Dining World Elite MasterCard

It looks like Capital One has a new offering...

In some cases this might be a better option than Quicksilver; in my own case I might try to get a PC for my old QS MasterCard that I'm just keeping around since it's my oldest bankcard.

Wish it was a Visa, would let me upgrade my Journey, already have a QS with my shopping habits it would probably break even at best.

thanks for sharing! Just took a closer look at it, doesnt seem so appealing to me as there are other cards with similar or better reward structure. Besides it has a minimum $1k limit... good job Cap 1 but I think I shall pass on this one lol

I have 2 Quicksilver Visas that I've intentionally kept separate, so I'll likely see if I can PC the oldest one into this new card. This new card isn't interesting or unique enough for me to do a new application for though, but as a PC I'm interested. If this works, it will likely take the place of my Marvel MC eventually.

Thanks for the posting this, UncleB. I'm impressed at how quickly you guys seem to make new posts regarding 'hot off the press' new cards.

Why does this make a difference? You can still get approved at much higher limits...if your profile supports it. And there is no limit on the rewards you can earn.

This is a great deal of benefits I think fo a no-AF card, mainly the unlimited 3% on dining. Personally, I wouldn't gain much from the card but I think it's superb as a second or third card (or first if you can get approved).

I've got most of my categories covered with BCP - 6% groceries, 3% Department stores and Sam's 5% gas and 3% food.

I'm also looking at the new USAA unlimited, if they ever release in the D.C. area.

BillyBob - I really don't consider Sams to be a 5% on anything, since it isn't cash back or a statement credit, the check is only issued once a year, and it has to be used at Sams..

I was told I was unable to PC one of my two QSs. I've heard Cap1 only allows two credit cards per person, not sure if that's true or not.

Hi fitireguy,

The check actually does not have to be used at Sam's. I'm going over to Sam's to cash mine today (Sam's is not close to us at all, by the way, so I never use my card in Sam's). I always cash my checks and never use them in Sam's.

This isn't really a card I "need," although the dining reward would top anything I have on my other cards. But I have two ancient QuicksilverOne cards that I haven't been able to product change into Quicksilvers, and I don't want to combine them into my current Quicksilver because the cards are so old. I wonder if I can PC one or both of those cards into this one.

Those yearly checks are like money in the bank baby! Cash in hand. It's really adds up over a year.

Why do you wish it were a Visa? Except for Costco, pretty much every place that takes a Visa also takes a Mastercard.

This is a very everyday type of card. Buying groceries and eating out I'd say are the two primary expenses (or combined as 'food' expense) outside of rent/mortgage for any individual, couple or family. And as an added benefit, 20-somethings will no longer have to pretend to be in the AARP to get a 3% dining card!

It won't be worth getting for me right now as I have the Costco Visa covering the dining category and the BCE covering non-Costco groceries. But still, for people who aren't chronic rewards maximizers and have a card for every category, this would seem to be a great fit.
