Thanks so much for this info. I have 5% rotating categories with Disco but I like the idea of groceries and restaurants. This is where a big chunk of my spend goes

Hey Everyone,

Been thinking about PCing my freedom unlimited to a freedom. One reason why is I already have the cap1 QS which does the exact same thing with the 1.5 back, I feel like theres no use of having the two same cards with the two same reward feature in my wallet. I don't have any cards with the 5% rotating categories so I'm leaning towards PCing my FU to a Freedom to change things up especially with the Grocery, Drug Stores, Restaurant, and Gas are all categories I do spend in (not a lot, but do ocassional spend on those).

With that said, I wanted to see what everyone else thought before I make the change. Is there any Pros to actually keeping two 1.5 cash back cards? Or do you guys agree it's better to change it to the freedom for some diversity in my wallet? Looking for some diff views or devils advocate lol, Thanks.

Depends on what your goal is and your normal spend. If you're looking to maximize cash back, having a rotating category card like the Freedom might be helpful since you already get 1.5 with your Cap1.

Do you have any other chase cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points?

Definitely makes more sense to have one 1.5% base card and one card with 5% bonus categories if you want to maximize cash back.

Do you always PIF? If you're never paying interest, do exactly this.

If you use the Chase UR points for travel like I do then it can potentially be WAY more valuable than the Quicksilver. And, if you have a few different cards with rotating categories and bonuses then the Freedom is way better than funlimited IMO.

I PC'ed and haven't looked back. I do eventually want the FU again, but the rotating 5% categories are more valuable for my spend at the moment.

The ultimate power combination would be Freedom, FU, and CSR to take advantage of the 50% points redemption for travel when you transfer to the CSR.

My QS is a World MasterCard and I was declined for the Costco Visa, so I needed something to use there.

Then I went ahead and got a Blispay Visa and WF Cashwise Visa, and now I have several options lol. I'm happer with the Freedom Unlimited, but I'm not even using it right now. I've been chasing singup bonuses with WF and Amex.

Thank you for everyones reply. After considering, I pulled the trigger and PC'd my Freedom Unlimited to the Freedom. Instant and painless and simple, gotta love Chase making PCing so easy. I don't have a 5% rotating category in my line up, so this will be my first with the Freedom. It adds diversity and like I mentioned before, I already have the QS which does the 1.5 cash back for me already, no need for another.
