Best Rewards Cred card for Las Vegas??

Hey, let me preface this by saying this might not be the best forum, or even website for that matter, to ask this, so apologies up front.

Going to Las Vegas at the end of July for work for some conventions, this time having to stay in company approved hotel which is definitely not my first choice (El Tropicano ), but it is what it is and no way getting around it unless I want to completely foot the hotel bill myself (which has crossed my mind to be honest).

That said, does anyone know which cards out there offer the best bet for use in LV? For things like comp tix to shows (or discounts), concierge services for clubs (no waiting go to the front of the line, etc)? Restaurants, buffets, bars, etc? (again, know this is prob not the best site, so if someone can tell me what site is, I will go there).

The cards I have that I think might be useful are:

Amex Plat

Chase Ritz ( I see that THE COSMOPOLITAN is a RitzCarlton partner and going to call to get details on that this week)

Total Rewards Visa

Chase CSP

Citi AA/Citi Diamond (I think).

I'm heading out there next week. Will be using Cap One Venture & Chase Freedom Unlimited.

Ok, how, just calling their customer service or concierge services? Or is it a matter of going online and booking things like that through them? Thanks!

Any particular deals you are getting out of them? I have both, but didn't see any benefits using them there outside of normal credit cards.

Strictly concierge services. I called them a few days (about 7) before I headed to LV and they set me up for shows and dinner reservations. From what I experienced at the Venetian and MGM I had "preferred" seating and the experiences were amazing. The seats they got me for "O" were some of the best in the house and I wasn't charged anymore then the reg ticket price

I agree with Irish! As an exterminator, I can tell you that you DON'T want to come home with bed bugs!! If you do, I charge minimum $1,500 to get rid of them!

Do yourself a favor and upgrade your hotel, otherwise expect to be giving me a call! Lol

Yeah, I am seeing what I can get from the Cosmopolitan as they are a partner hotel with the Riutz Carlton and I have the Chase RC Visa, and I am Gold member, but not sure what that gets me there. Have some unused certs (free night tier 1-4 and club upgrade if 7 nights or more, which it will be) but not sure if they can be used or how they translate over.

Would be interesting to know if the Ritz certs can be used at the Cosmopolitan. I know Hyatt and Marriott have some properties you can redeem at.

I've had success with Amex handling my bookings for hotel, dinner and show reservations. FHR gets you nice upgrades, and concierge was successful at hooking us up with great seats at the last minute on several occasions.

Hotels are starting to charge for parking now (**bleep**), I came across a card (I think M-Life) that I almost considered getting because it gives you free parking, other than that I haven't really seen any vegas specific cards worth getting. Maybe someone can chime in on Total Rewards?

The cosmo is part of the Autograph collection thru Marriot and MGM has an arrangement with Hyatt. Don't know too much about total rewards as I don't frequent there casinos. The Tropicana is part of the Hilton family and if you have a Hilton card you might have benefit or two.

MGM is listed under CSR Luxury line. Few benefits like free upgrade if you book thru CSR website.

As for parking all hotels are charging. Except for V/P, Treasure Island and Tropicana. All MGM properties and ceaser properties are charging.

The Mlife CC will get you pearl status with Mlife. That will get you free self parking at all MGM resorts. Having the cc won't get you free parking, you have to sign up for the rewards card then you get free self parking. Valet is not free till you get gold status. Imho MGM cc not worth effort, unless you are a MGM/Vegas junkie.

Personally I abuse my CSR card in Vegas. For all the eating that goes on Vegas, the points accumulate rather quickly.

Nothing wrong with the Tropicana for a convention stay.

Forgot to mention but make sure you take advantage of the Centurion Lounge benefit of the Amex Platinum. Spent a lot of time in there during delays and it's one of my favorite credit card perks. If you drink, the cocktails are free along with the food but please tip the bartender(s).

I have to the Total Rewards Visa, got it last year, but not used in LV, used in South Lake Tahoe over the Xmas holidays for a free buffet at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, and they moved me to the front of the line of about 50 people and gave me nice seating. Then played a bit, but thats about it. I see that I can use it more in LV, so planning on taking it for use and points, but thats about it.

I just checked and have Diamond Status, abit above 15K points. I guess I will see what that gets me, according to my online statement, gets me VIP at certain buffets!!

Guess I was looking to see what could get me into clubs and avoid lines and such, maybe a discount or waiver of any door/entrance fees, not that I cannot afford it, but if I am going to drop some dollars on overpriced drinks, why pay that fee? Not sure Amex Plat or Total Rewards can help me with that, or ever the Chase Ritz if I stay at the Cosmopolitan since they just a partner hotel ( http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels )

So pulled this from my April statement as to what I am entitled to via my Platinum status and the hotels that participate, so guess it is not too bad. Pretty sure there are some restrictions not mentioned, so will call and find out this week. Been awhile since I have been to LV, so not up on what the latest hot places are, but hope someone knows and lets me know!!!

Side note, I thought I was at Platinum status, but looks like 15K+ puts me at Diamond status since then, but May statement not cut yet, so hopefully that means better.

Ritz, CSP and Platinum. If you plan on going to Caesars, you may get additional benefits from TR.

When you say hot spots, are you referring to nightclubs? dining? shows?

I'm honestly surprised no bank or CU here in the Southern Golden State has come up with a "Las Vegas Rewards" card as often as people here head off to spend money in LV.

Well, I got an answer the other day from Ritz on the Cosmopolitan question on whether I can use my certificates for upgrades or free nights, so thought I would share out in case anyone else needs to know. Not what I wanted to hear, but it is what it is!

I was just in Vegas about 3 weeks ago. If you do decide to foot the bill for your own stay I would highly recommend The M Resort. Absolutely fabulous place. This is my go-to place when I'm in Vegas.

I agree, The M is great. It's one of my favorite places to stay, especially if I don't want to deal with the strip.
