Lol the key part is more than I can use. Might not be as many for SOME people, but I'm at 180k points right now, and I probably get anywhere from 2-5k per month ( I'm all in on UR). I probably have enough for about 3/4 solid trips right now based on where/how I fly, and like I said earlier, I plan on getting a CSP again later this year to give me enough for another trip or 2

Right. Like I said, more than 'I CAN' use. I only have so much vacation time a year, I could care less about travelling first class or anything but wanna get away fares. Before my next big trip I'll be around 240k points at minimum after the CSP, and that will take care of trips .... Realistically probably until early/mid 2019. While 170k may be nothing for some people who travel on higher end airlines/value....Or from places with expensive tickets to/from. That's quite a few trips.
Fwiw since 2015(and maybe before that) SW points haven't changed more than 10 cents, still at a strong 1.65 or so last I checked. I'm sure some places change, what I use them for hasn't drastically. And even if they did, nothing I can do about it, I don't have trips for a while, and worst case they're cashed out for equal value.

Not worried about Chase's feelings at all. Worried about any sort of AA when I may try to reallocate credit lines/ they decide I am what they term a 'churner' because I closed a card that Id realistically never used beyond the bonus. It's Chase's world, I just live in it and travel for free.

Depends on where the trip is. I have friends where I normally visit, but also have a friend who works for Marriott and I receive a discount and unfortunately unless I'm missing something when I book the hotel's, it's never let me use points for employee redemptions

Can you donate your miles/UR points? You could buy someone else a ticket which would be very nice. The points don't have to go to waste. It's graduation season. Perhaps a plane ticket for a new grad? Heck you could even fly them first class so they get to experience it even if it's something you don't value. You have a very good number of points, but I wouldn't say you have too many. You can put them to good use and dwindle down that number easily.

Sorry. It initially read as though you wanted to get rid of the card because you were getting too many points.

No one can tell you what Chase is going to think. Can't say if you'll be viewed as a churner. I'd guess, however, if this is the only card you are closing after one year you'd likely not get assessed as a bad risk. Just don't make a habit of it.
