So I am in college and got my first card in December. My first card was the dsicover it chrome for students with 1K limit. I love the 2% CB on resturants and gas. I have used this card responsibly and never missed a payment. I did not need another card, but I went ahead and got the Cap journey to get my age going and get another account on file. The cap one has a 300 limit. 1.3 is totaly way more than enought for a college kid. So my question is what will I be able to upgrade the Cap 1 too within a year or more? i know its a mearly 1-1.25% CB.

I don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to upgrade in the future. You should be able to start checking for an upgrade around 3-4 months of having the card.

My daughter was in the same boat as you. She started with the Discover chrome for students and the Journey card. As soon as she received her credit steps cli on the Journey, she was able to pc to the regular no af Quicksilver with no problem.

Quick observation, her Journey started at $2k, after 75 days she asked for a cli and received a $200 increase. At the end of her credit steps she was given an additional $500. That card sits as $2.7k. The Chrome started at $500. today it sits at $4k. Both cards are 11 months old. Within the 11 months she scored $200, $1900, $900, $500 clis on the Chrome. It's definitely is growing much faster than the Journey.

My credit adventure began with a Cap1 Journey when I was in college and got my first job too.

Had a $500 CL and grew from there. Just keep your eye on the credit limit increase link under card features or whatever and give it a try.... Cap1 will only give you that option when they know you're ready for it. (I'm sure you could call and try to force a CLI... but I'm sure it's more likely to be denied).

Anyways... no rush. Give it time. The hardest part of the whole credit game is the time component... (well, obviously being responsible and not drowning in debt too/being late, but that's a given).
