Those that got Chase auto-CLIs 3-6 months in?

I've read reports in scattered threads of people receiving their first auto-CLI from Chase within 3-6 months of opening their card. It doesn't seem too card specific, as I've seen people report this with many different cards across the Chase product line.

Those of you that did receive an auto-CLI from Chase relatively early on, if you'd be so kind as to give some information surrounding it that would be helpful.

Basically things like your spend and payment pattern between account opening and the auto-CLI (typical utilization you reported on the card) along with anything else such as the particular card you have, the SL, CLI amount, amount of days since account opening that you got it, whether it was your only Chase card or if you had others, etc.

My data is a little old, but I will share my experience:

Opened Chase Freedom 11/2010 with a SL of $7,000. Used the card for a $3000 balance transfer, paying $500 per month until it was paid in May 2011. I received a $3,000 auto CLI in August 2011 and have received absolutely $0 since. I also had another $10,000 Chase Slate MasterCard at the time (which has since been changed by Chase to a Visa and by me to Freedom Unlimited).

Chase is known to do this. Per CARD Act they have 12 months to increase the credit line based on your current income. So they like to do an auto CLI before the year is up which they still have the time using the income you provided at the time of application. After this year is up, they find ways to get you to update the info on your own or in the very rare case, they reach out to you to inform you that you may be eligible for an increase after you update income info.

As always, YMMV. Not everybody gets the auto CLI.

I never heard of the card act and the 12 month thing. Interesting.

If anyone has any specifics on an early auto-CLI on the Sapphire Preferred I'd be very interested as that's the card I just scooped up and would like to position myself the best way to possibly receive an auto-CLI. By definition with the $4k spend in 3 months a CSP card holder needs to spend at least that (assuming they want the bonus) so their usage is going to be pretty solid I would think.

I apologize for bringing this 4 week old thread back to life, but I'm still looking for more data on this subject.

Basically any Chase card will do here for sake of the discussion. Looking for anyone that received an auto-CLI from Chase in the first 3-4 months (or even up to 6). If you received one, on what card, what was your SL and what was your CLI amount and what was your spend on the card (and payment pattern) over the course of those months? Thank you for anyone that contributes here.

Chase Southwest Premier -- Oct 2015.

SL was $2,500. Spent $1500-$1800 the first two months (PIF'd). They auto bumped me to $4k.

The moral of the story is... use close to your limit with some regularity, and they'll give you more.

Opened Chase Amazon on October 29 of last year, SL $2,500. Automatically increased to $4,000 on or about March 1. The increase came mid-cycle, and I received no notification. I stumbled on it when I logged into my account.

Statement balances (always paid in full or more than paid in full)…

January: $–72 (an Amazon order was cancelled and refunded right before the statement cut)

DH and my dad each have a Chase Freedom. DH got the card April 1st 2016 and we used it as our daily driver to get the bonus and then because of the catagories. SL was $3000 auto CLI at 6 months to $4000. Usual spend a few hundred PIF. After that we used it for some furniture and carried the balance until this month using the 0% intro. Didnt want to cut it too close.

Dad got the card April 30th at my recommendation because my parents were looking for a daily driver and he got $7500 SL. They run a couple thousand a month through PIF. Auto CLI at 6 months to $9000. After that they carried a few thousand with the 0% but still ran through their normal spend of a couple thousand a month and paid those every month. Auto CLI to $16000 at 1 year. They just paid off the whole balance this month. They also didnt want to cut it too close.

I opened my Chase Freedom in August 2014 w/cl of $10k. I used it enough to get the cash bonus. I received an auto cli of $3k after 6 months. After the cli, I charged $5k of dental work for my dh and I since it was the 0% interest promo and paid it off in under 6 months. I have yet to get another cli, nor have I seen anywhere to request an increase. Under my offers, I have an offer for the freedom unlimited, csp and slate cc.......but no cli lol. My cl has been sitting at $13k for over a year.

I have gotten two auto CLI on my chase freedom. started at 1200..limit currently 4400. all ive done is used it and pay it down or pay in full. never come close to maxing it out.

My Freedom started at $2500 and got an auto CLI to $5000 at 6 months. That card was and remains my largest CL by large margin. It was also the first unsecured card I got approved for.

I generally put $500-$800 on it each month, and I pay every transaction the day it posts.

Depending on your limit, that may be next to impossible. Using close to your limit is much more difficult for someone with a $10k limit verses someone with a $2k limit, for example. While I definitely agree with you that those with smaller limits that naturally are using a greater portion of it simply based on the numbers are highly likely to receive auto-CLIs, I'm wondering more about those that don't necessarily use a large portion of their limit since perhaps the limit is already fairly strong.

I opened a CSP in 8/2015 and rec'd a SL of 5000. (Silly me didn't wait for new utilization to report and baddies removed the following month.) I used it fairly regularly and charged a new A/C unit on it to meet the bonus spend. In 11/2015 I applied for the Freedom and the day it was approved I received a 1K auto CLI on my CSP. Last summer I took a HP to get my CSP limit to 20K.

Freedom: Opened Feb 2015 @ $6K SL...~3 months later it was bumped up to $7.5K.

Freedom Unlimited: Opened Mar 2017 @ $7.2K...pending with 3.5K spend on it. (Crossing fingers for an increase as I'm at around 50% Util) and about to make a 20% payment on the card.

My data is 9 years old now, but for what it's worth, I started with a $500 limit on in-school income ($3000 a year maybe), spent maybe $100 in the first 6 months, and at some point in the first year, they bumped my limit up to $1000. It's stayed there since.

Opened my Freedom Unlimited (now PCed to Freedom) in Oct 2016 with no credit history at $500 SL. 5 months in after my statement cut, I received a CLI to $1000.

I put about $2,000 on the card monthly. Always PIF.

+1. With my Slate, I've found that if I'm hanging around just under 79%, the SP CLI offers roll in. I was around 79%, got an SP CLI offer, 3 months later got another SP CLI offer. Note that this is NOT good for your FICO if you're letting it report at that utilization though. (I'm now much happier at 3%, LOL.)

I have the Chase Freedom and received an auto CLI a week after my third statement cut. SL was $500, CLI was $1500, total credit limt on card is now $2000. Never went $300 on card and paid in full every month. Hope this gives you some help.

Nice data points, I just got the $500 SL FU myself today and it's good to see that it can grow automatically!

What were your FICOs like on approval and on auto CLI?

Don't recall what it was when initially approved, but when CLI hit my scores were TU 709, EQ 695, EX 701
