Hello all, I've been with Amex BCE (credit steps) for 61 days. Should I go for the cli or ride it out as per the agreement (Your credit line increase will go into effect by the end of the sixth month after your first payment).

Wait til your 6th month , it looks like they put you in their credit steps program so the 61 day thing probably doesnt or wont apply to you. Patience will win the day here

No problem. Hopefully once you complete your 6 months you can start following the 3x guide and your Amex will take off

My sister was in the credit steps program. She hit 61 days today and received a 3X CLI. She's been PIF every month and her score has improved a lot over the last 60 days. Her SL was $1800. As always, YMMV

Sweet MG. That must have been a great feeling. I guess it all depends on where you are at day 61. Maybe if one sees their fico score updated since first approved they might better be able to gage if they want to test out the cli button early or not.

Yeah, I think the score improvement made a big difference, but I haven't seen what they pulled for her last score so I'm just speculating.

I forgot to mention I spoke to a CSR who gave me the exact date when my 61 days were up and the CSR also said I was eligible. We didn't speak about credit steps but he was looking directly at my account. I'm still going to wait it out as nothing has happened with my score.

Mom is in the steps and got a 2x CLI at about 67 days. Since we aren't actively monitoring her scores I don't know if there been any improvement but if there was it wasn't a major one. UTI is about the same and she has clean reports. Last time we got her scores she was about 720 across the board.

They give you an auto credit limit increase on the 5th statement if you don't get one before that. The wording is usually on the offer area of the preapproval, and if you get approved, they sent you an email explaining how it works and what you need to do. The credit line is usually $500.

I was going to say to ride it out as well, I tried to go for the CLI and it didn't work, and then the following month they gave me the CLI without having to request it. I'm just going to leave it up to them at this point

Can someone explain the 3x for amex, or tell me where this guide is at?? Im looking at amex right know and seriously considering it.

On day 61 after receiving a new AmEx card, you can request a CLI for 3X what your initial credit limit was. After getting the increase, you have to wait 180 days more to request a second increase. Someone else will have to chime in on how long to wait if you get denied since I didn't.
