Looking to apply for CSR for travel benefits. I am not a current member of Chase bank. Thought being a member is helpful? Do they do hard pulls for membership? Thanks.

No hard pull to join. They do check ChexSystems tho.

There are some very weak data points that people with $10,000 on deposit in one account were able to get an approval immediately after a decline for CSR.

You can join Chase Credit Journey for free -- it offers a fake credit score, but it may show you prequalified offers. You can also use the Chase prequalified offer page as well which is a soft pull.

Thanks abcd, I actually had a question for you on another CSR thread but can't remember which thread it was. Haha. I've tried the prequal and credit journey with no offers available. Thanks again.

I personally wouldn't apply for a Chase card without a good sign-up bonus offer. The 100,000 URs are gone for Sapphire but I think they're offering 50,000 right now, not sure if there are better ones.

Freedom and Freedom Unlimited are about the same ($150 for $500 SUB) except one is a category card and one is 1.5% across the board. You earn URs with either that you can redeem for cash at 1 point per penny, but if you bank your URs until you get the Sapphire, you can redeem them for travel at a better rate. IF you travel, and you travel internationally, and you prefer business or first, the Sapphire is one of the better deals out there. With Freedom's 5% in certain category spend combined with Sapphire Reserved you will get one of the best values on international premium travel there is.

If you don't use it for travel, I don't think CSR/CSP is all that great. I travel a lot ($50,000 a year for personal travel) and I checked and CSR/CSP doesn't work for me unfortunately. I like my FU and will snag a Freedom just for category spend bonuses and the SUB, but otherwise CSP/CSR isn't in my future yet. Will continue to look at my spending compared to CSR/CSP but so far it's not a card for me.

@Anonymous wrote:

With CSP or CSR, are you able to purchase business or first class tickets for about similar price as economy?
