Cap One has a very good pre-qualifier, so I always recommend doing that before applying to anything with them. You could try to recon by contacting the Cap One EO and see if that gets you anywhere. Other than that, I'd recommend reading up in the Rebuidling forum to learn how to address your baddies. Good luck!

Denied Quicksilver One any suggestions?

I am doing my best to raise my scores. I have two secured cards, one with Discover the other with Capital One. My score is now 630 and after doing research I thought "why not try for the Quicksilver One card" applied, denied instantly my guess is that my student loans are causing an issue. I am $60,000 in debt with student loans, just graduaed a few days ago and proud of my degree but not my debt. I applied for the program that puts my loans into a repayment schedule based on my income. Anyway I was denied because my debt/income ratio is too high. Could anyone point me in a different direction? I recently moved from simple bank to Alliant CU in hopes to, in a few months, apply for an auto loan (a loan of around $6000 hoping to purchase a $10,000 used car and have a $4,000 down payment) but its almost like my hands are tied. I keep my balances low on my secure cards and even considered getting a third. I have recently paid off the only collections that I had which was a $498 sprint bill from a couple years ago. The negative remarks on my cc now are almost all transferred, deferred or closed student loans.

My Fico is 628, Transunion is 633, not sure about my Equifax but I believe it is around the 630 area as well.

Posted in wrong forum sorry moved this to rebuilding credit forum.

I have only ever had a pre-approval for Merrick and got both my Cap1 cards, Chase Freedom and AMEX instantly without a pre-approval.

Always best to check first, but it doesn't mean you won't get the card you want.

Maybe wait awhile and get the Cap1 Platinum as it's easier to upgrade to a QS.

I've had a QS1 for 3yrs and they won't budge on the low limit or the annual fee.

Good luck on your journey

Thank you both. Grrrr didn't know there is a pre approval that I could have tried first. Next time I will play closer attention, I am going to continue using my 2 secured cards and hope my score goes up a bit more before trying again.
