Yes they are all under one name Thank you for the advice I figured that was the best route to go as well until I get another major card. Later after I let age grow more.

What would be the benefit of combining our two cards? We have a venture 1 cl 5300. 0 bal and a QS cl 2500 0 bal. the only thing is the only other major card we have is BOA All the other cards are store cards so it probably wouldn't be a good idea anyways yet right ?

Benefits would be easier bookkeeping, getting rid of a crummy card, or losing an annual fee. The advantage of combining over closing a card would be that you'd keep its limit.

In your case, I'd keep the two cards open — at least for the time being — for the reasons you state. If you were to add another major card, you might want to consider combining the VentureOne into the Quicksilver as the Quicksilver has more valuable rewards.

Edited to add…

You say "we." Are all of these cards in your name? If they're not, that may change the advice to "definitely don't combine" until you have other cards.

I think that combining the cards gives you the benefit of having a bigger limit. I think that bigger limits beget bigger limits. If you do combine them I would add a third prime card so that you have 3.
