You can get 400 dollars in airline incidentals. Once this year and next. Seems to me there are cards with better sign-up bonuses without fees the first year. Perhaps if you want the card you should call up and ask the 60k points that they list on their site for the card.

I was thinking that once you downgrade back to the PRG, you get prorated on the $550? Meaning, I pay the $550 upon upgrading then once i downgrade, they keep the $175 it cost to have the PRG and i get $375 back...am I mistaken? Sorry, been out of the forum for a while lol.

I upgraded my PRG for 60k after 5k in spend. After 1.5-2 billing statement periods, I was charged a prorated AF for the Platinum and refunded a prorated AF for the PRG. It looks to me as the full $550 fee will be due when my $195 would have been due for my PRG.

You can get a full refund only in the first 30 days after the AF is charged. This probably has some relevance to your plan.

If you take the upgrade offer, you will have a prorated Platinum AF charged, for the remainder of your card year (the PRG Card Anniversary remains the same AF date). This AF is net of the PRG credit for part of that AF.

When you go to downgrade later, how long were you planning to wait after the upgrade / bonus before doing this? Where will that fall in relation to your card anniversary (AF) date?
