I got a Cap One upgrade instead of an inquiry

I have had their Platinum card for a couple years and was getting offers for the Quicksilver One card. I wanted the Quicksilver but didn't wanna take the hard pull for it so last night I opened up a chat with them online and asked if there was anything they could do. They offered me an upgrade which I took. Everything will carry over from my platinum card but it will now be a Quicksilver. So those of you that don't know about this, don't take the hard pull for a card you want. Ask for an upgrade. I'm glad I did!

This is the best way to go, especially if your Platinum card has no annual fee. You keep the age of the account, the no-AF, and don't have to worry about trying the card combination feature down the road (which may or may not work, even if you meet all the listed criteria).

Only problem with this is that you don't get any signup bonuses like the $150 Quicksilver offers. To me a hardpull would be worth the bonus.

I guess it would depend on how many inquires a person already has on all of their credit reports to determine if it would be smart to risk another HP on all CRs. If you just want to be able to get cash back and not another HP, they may decide to forgo the $150 sign-up bonus. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I may be mistaken but doesn't Capital One allow you multiple versions of the same card.

Have had mine for 3yrs and they refuse to upgrade or remove AF's.

Just paid them both off and about to call and cancel.

CreditOne have treated me better.

No, you can have multiples of the same card. I've had two QS cards myself at one time.

I plan on buying a home early next year so I'm watching my inquiries and honestly I didn't want another card in my wallet. I have enough to cycle through now. Lol

They wouldn't give me a CLI or pre qulify any other cards for me until I got my two public records deleted recently. Then those offers came real quick.

They do, but to get a second QS with bonus you'll have to apply and get a HP. So at some point you'll be taking a HP. A PC still leaves you without the bonus. But yes, I wouldn't want to pass up on the bonus, but if it's inquiries you're watching then this makes sense.
