With AMEX, you can request CLIs:

61 days after opening a card.

91 days after a CLI denial.

181 days after a CLI approval.

Requesting too early doesn't reset the clock; it's not a full-fledged denial. But note that you can only CLI one card at a time. Once the clock is reset, it applies to all cards on one's account.

Hi Everyone - so, I currently have three AMEX cards in my name (Amex Platinum, no limit, Amex Hilton $1000 limit and Amex Blue Cash Rewards $5000 limit) and I'm an authorized used on three AMEX cards of my finance (Amex Gold Rewards, no limit, Amex SPG $4000 limit and AMEX Everyday $7000 limit). I'm really trying to get my limits on the cards in my name raised, so far no luck. Does being the authorized user on the other accounts help or hurt me (those accounts are and always have been in good standing, paid each month in full). Thanks in advance.

Also make sure you are applying only when you're eligible. That means if you are denied on any of your two revolvers you must wait 91 days to try again on either card. Good luck in your future attempts. They'll come in time.

Agreed that the authorized user status has zero bearing with Amex, but they likely are helping you out generally speaking. No one mentioned it yet, but when you do qualify to ask for a CLI, you should ask on the Blue Cash card as it it the one with the higher limit. The most you could ask for with the Hilton is a $2,000 increase to $3,000, while the most you can ask for on the Blue Cash is a $10,000 increase to $15,000. You are allowed to reallocate credit lines on your revolving American Express accounts every 30 days, so let's say you asked for $15k and got it on the Blue Cash, you could always move $7,000 of that to the Hilton and have a pair of $8,000 cards. On the other hand if you only got the 3X CLI on the Hilton to $3k, you'd have a total of $8k between the two lines and wouldn't be eligible to ask again for 181 days.
