DH got an Amex approx 60 days ago, I burned Amex IIB and am blacklisted. They denied adding me as AU (SSN was required). stating they had previously closed an account of mine. Fast forward... this week DH clicked to add AU and was able to get me added without requiring SSN. There was a note in fine print that said SSN will be required within 60 days. Will be interesting to see if they shut my card down after 60 days (will provide SSN) or will let it go on good behavior.

I have burned Amex in the past. I have a better score and profile now. I tried to get back with Amex, but then never approved me, even though I have received pre-qualified offers from them.

My wife got an Amex card approved few months ago. I tried to have her add me as an authorized user, but it asks for additoanl users's date of birth and SSN. I kind of remember reading previously that Amex does not want the authorized user who is on their blocked list

Any body have some comments on this issue?

AMEX will not allow anyone who has burned them in the past back in as an AU on someone else's account. Jlgab345 may have found a way around it temporairly but best guess is AMEX may shut the card down before the 60 days anyways once they match the bureau information with what they got on their files already.

What do u mean is quite simple the AU that **bleep**ed then can become a problem for the original owner making him/her unable to pay for future charges therefor resulting in a default.doesnt matter if the AU is limited on charges amount is just youre a risk thats all.I think is for the best but thats just my opinion lol

While unlikely that they will take any immediate AA against her for trying to bring you on, they may note that she tried to add a blacklisted AU. At best, this tactic looks sketchy and the chances they'll suddenly decide you're ok in their books after such a maneuver is low. It's just not worth it, to you or her, and there's plenty of other banks out there, so why go through all the trouble?

So the story continues....we got a letter from Amex 2 days ago reiterating the need to provide my SSN within 60 days, which we had every intention of doing so right at the 60 day mark. Fast forward one day, I got my AU card in the mail yesterday. When activating it I was required to enter my SSN. So I did, closed my eyes and poof, it actually gave me a screen to create a login! Funny enough, once I got in, it says I was a member since 2004 😂😂😂. So guess I'm back in(ish). I'll update if they end up shutting me down
