You only have to spend the $50K if you want the travel credit. That has nothing to with signup bonus.

I understand that. However, it is the travel credit that makes the signup package unique. The signup bonus is no better than most mid-range cards.

Very true but that doesn't mean it's not a card to consider. Just like any of the cash back 'travel' cards like the Venture, Arrival+ and others, the value is in the signup bonus. Get it as its pretty much easy money to achieve and then you move onto better travel cards. Very few, if any, are going to spend $50K to get a $200 travel credit, any more than they would spend $25K, when that money spent with other cards would earn you a lot more value.

I wonder myself. In the past BoA cards were known to be pretty easy to churn. Finally used my points from the card for a trip my g/f is making to Vegas. Got more like 1.5 cents per point than 2 but still worth it in my opinion..

Also mentions the card will be discontinued in the DOC article? Due to the new BofA card coming out possibly.. Does that mean existing people can keep it, would assume Merrill would have a say in this as well.. Thoughts? Or am I reading this wrong

Just reread it and it does state that according to FrequentMiler, the card will be discontinued in a month. Hmmm, do wonder what will happen to it then. Also in the comments section, several people state that they have 2 of the cards so I guess it is possible get the bonus again. At least for next month.

Ya agree one can get the bonus more than once from how i read it and I believe seen it on MF a few times as well people that have two as well now that I am thinking about it, although would hate to open an account just to have it closed by BofA.. The weird thing if the discontinue that card is that well they would never really do that and leave the merrill wealthy clients without cards and they can't force a PC to an AF card.. So one of two things will happen IMO if they discontinue the card either keep it rolling and not issue new cards or PC people to the new travel rewards cards and grandfather them in without an AF as no way they will PC you and make you pay an AF.. Thoughts?

I was denied for the card. They wouldn't even let me app. (< 21 can't app on phone lol)

A family member got the card last month though with the 50k offer. They don't spend $50k a year on all their cards combined, so the travel credit was irrelevant. It's a good bonus for a card that's no-FTF and no-AF (SD-able).

No idea as to what happens to this card. I hope BA keeps it as is. They can't shut it down and force clients to pay the AF of the Premium Rewards card. Or BA gives us the new Premium card with AF wiaved.

We have two cards in the family. I'm not sure if you can have two of the same cards. But I do have two Cash Rewards cards at the same time. I doubt you can have two the same cards at this time....

Just called in to BA about this card. The customer service denied the "Card going away" rumor. With the new Premium Rewards card, nothing is going to change to this Merrill+ card, at least to existing card holders. No idea about the start bonus. That can certainly change.

I just tried to test the Merrill+ airline booking. Actually it is pretty neat. The minimum is 25,000, or up to $500. It is fine if you have something lightly over, like $510. The $10 uses 1% reward, not the 2% reward rate.

For two people, the minimum is 50,000 points. So good to book a vacatioin flight.... The flight to Bahamas is cheaper than $500.....
