Are there ever any Amex Offers for adding an AU

I originally posted this a different way and it was moved to the Business Forum because I asked about my business card. But would actually like to know if any of American Express cards ever have an offer to add an AU and get a bonus.

Everytime I chat or call they make sure to ask me if I want to add one. So they have been pushing this pretty hard.

Makes sense, because the more cards on an account, the higher the spend would be.

mods....I tried to delete the other post to couldn't figure out how. If you would do that, it would be much appreciated.

Yes they do have offers for adding AUs from time to time. Recently they had one that I took advantage of for adding an AU on my PRG and received 5,000 MR points after $500 spend.

Yep have on my ED card either 4-5 AU's at 1500 MR's after 150 spend per AU. Sure they probably exist on most of their cards or at least their MR cards . They push AU's pretty heavily each time I have called them about something

Yes, they do have offers. I recently had 5K MR points awarded for adding two additional AUs to my PRG. I believe they are targeted - you should receive an email if you're eligible.

I know that you removed the business part of your post so that it could be posted here but I wouldnt necessarily assume that they will hand out the same offers for buisness cards. I have two of those and have yet to see any AU offer on those but neither are mine are the charge cards so maybe they do on those.

Bumping this thread from August to see if there are any current offers for adding AUs to Amex cards -- or if it might be seasonal in nature.

I checked my Amex "Offers" section and the only offers for Amex are for gift cards.

Interesting, do you only have MR cards with Amex or do you have any cashback cards? I only have the BCP right now, Platinum will be next year but 5K MRs doesn't sound all that great for a $175 AU fee annually, ha.

I've seen:

5,000 MRs on Platinum, PRG

$25 on BCE/BCP with $xxx purchase.

1,500 MRs on ED/EDP with $xxx purchase.

I currently have 5000 MRs for $500 spend in 3 months, up to 4 times, for both Platinum and PRG. Nothing on Blue, SPG, or Delta Platinum.

DW currently has 1500 MRs for $150 spend in 3 months, up to 4 times, on ED. Fortunately, she has nothing on Delta Gold because that would tempt me to leave the garden for points.

I do not mess with the $25 or 1,500 AU offers. Not worth the efforts and impact to credit reports.

I don’t have any cash back cards with Amex, only MR earning ones.

I wouldn't do it just for $25 but here's my AUs:

Gal I date for a long time has 820-830 FICO scores last she checked but only has 1 CC and 2 loans and doesn't generally like credit churning. She drives a gas powered car and would like a piece of that BCP 3% on gas. Easy AU.
Siblings are artists who pay cash for everything and whenever they needed to rent a car, etc, they had huge issues. I made them AUs on a CC last year and they pay their share within a week of swiping. I've heard rumors that Amex AU may give me flexibility in setting individual credit limits, not sure if that's true but if so it's a positive. Read about it on this link.
The guy I jokingly call my butler (he isn't, just a neighbor who does odd jobs for me every week) goes to a lot of estate sales and sometimes finds things I would buy to resell later and in the past I just sent him funds with Zelle but I added him as an AU on one of my lower limit cards so that he can just get my approval and charge whatever the find was. It's usually under $500, sometimes under $100 but it's a nice extra income for me and adding him to Amex would be an option if I could set a limit.

So there's 4 AU possibilities for me, all who have been good stewards of AU so far, and if I could cap their spending on top of that plus earn 1-6% on the spend, bonus. Would make my life easier, and put a few bucks in my pocket for folks who are either credit adverse or credit poor but who I trust (at least with $500-$1000 of my money if they didn't pay).

If I get a Platinum card, I also have an AU possibility there -- one of my ex-employees is the most credit adverse person in the universe (not credit poor, just has no interest) but he retired when I did (extreme bitcoin-wealthy guy) and he spends probably $30,000 a year on airfare and hotels, so I would 100% pay his AU annual fee in exchange for the rewards earned. If I could cap the spend limit, of course.

So my AUs aren't just to earn $25 or whatever, but because it would make my life a LOT easier. I'd still hold out for a bonus, why leave money on the table?

@Anonymous yes, all American Express cards (personal, small business, corporate) allow you to set individual spending limits for each user right from your account. I believe you have to be logged into the desktop site to do so. Certainly a great way to rack up extra points/dollars.

Awesome, thank you for verifying that. It'll certainly make a difference. I'm eyeballing the other Amex cashback grocery card without the AF because I personally will hit $6000 a year spend at the grocery store, so I think it may make more sense to do AU on the other 3% card with no cap. I have to do more math on it though.

I want to kick myself for being income-rich but credit-stupid for 20 years. All of the AUs I could have potentially had (employees on a business card that I used to just tell to charge a purchase individually and I'd write a check, ugh)...
