Citi TY Premier Product Change?

Hey Guys,

I have a Citi TY Premier since July 2016 after Product changing from ATT Access More which was opened in July 2015.. I do not use my TYP much (have CSR for Travel) so was thinking what's the best card I should product change TYP to. I do have the annual fee waived on this card, but was thinking I can product change so I am eligible for Prestige offer somewhere in July-Aug next year because of Citi 24 month rules.

Should I product change my TYP to Dividend or Double Cash? Or just keep as is and I will still be eligible for Prestige offer next year?

Please correct me if my understanding in Product change or 24 month rule is not correct.

As always thanks in advance guys for your help and inputs

I can't tell which cards you already have because there is something wrong with the way you are hosting the images of those cards in your signature line, and all that appears is a row of question marks. However, if you don't already have a 2% flat rate card, I recommend you reqest that Citi product change the Premier to a Double Cash.

I uploaded the images under my profile and for some reason they are not loading.. well, here are my cards

CSR, Chase FU, BOA Merril+, BOA Cash Rewards, Barclay Arrival+, Citi TYP, AMEX BCE, Discover, Macys

I already product changed my Arrival+ to no-annual fee Arrival last night.. So another thing stuck in my mind is, if I do product change TYP to Double Cash then I would not have a no-foreign transaction fee Mastercard in my wallet.. I generally have couple of international trips accross the year and prefer a Mastercard over Visa for better currency convertion rates

I researched further and Citi Dividend does not look attractive compared to Double Cash but I was thinking may be I can product change to AAdvantage, there also I can get the annual fee waived simillar to TYP, have 0% foreign transaction but it might reset my 24 month clock with Citi. I don't know I am not getting clarity what can I do to be eligible for Prestige bonus next year, may be I can get the bonus even with Premier in my wallet as I never received a bonus on my Premier.

Your situation is unique I think. Your premier was product changed from ATT Access which opened in July 2015. Do they have the same card number? If so, then it might be likely that you are safe to open a Citi Prestige in Aug 2017. This is because Citi might think your Premier's open date is actually July 2015, not July 2016. You probably should have product changed ATT Access to a no annual fee card and should have applied for Premier with its bonus...

However, to be safe, I suggest you keep Premier at this time. So far, there's no good data points to show that product changing will or will not reset the 24 month clock with Citi. Since you had Citi Premier in July 2016, the safest way is to not close or product change your card until after you are approved and have received the bonus for Citi Prestige in Aug 2018.

Bonus from new Premier awarded in Aug 2017 and then I product changed old Premier into Double Cash.

So, I know my next round of TY family application is Sept 2019.
