TD Bank Pre-Selected Offer--Say what!

Just got a pre-selected mailer for their Cash-back Visa--$200 back after $500 spend--2% dining--1% everything else. I live within their banking footprint and already have a 7 month old Nordstrom store card with them---which I hoped to grow into a Visa Sig. eventually. I didn't even know they sent out pre-selected offers! Anyone else here ever gotten one? My EX right now is at 689 and the offer expires Oct 31st--so I'll give it a while to see if my EX improves by then before I make my final decision.

I got the same mailer a few days ago. I have a TD Bank within walking distance of my apartment. The credit card has nothing to offer me. I already have a card that gives 2% cash back on everything, so why would I be interested in a card that gives 2% on dining and 1% on everything else. And I already have a 3% dining card (NFCU Go Rewards) and the Chase Sapphire Reserve that gives 3 points for dining. I put the mailer into my shredder this morning.

As a general rule, most of the banks in my neighborhood have mediocre credit cards. I'm thinking of TD Bank, M&T Bank, PNC Bank, Wells Fargo, Sun Trust, and BB&T. I think most of their cards are designed to be offered to customers who already have checking and savings accounts at those banks.

You must live in the same general area I live in--because all of those banks are right here in my town also. And yes--they do tend to have mediocre cards and offer mediocre or less than mediocre limits as well.

Good for you.

I won't see any such offers since am well out of their service area for anything but co-brand cards.

However i have only good things to offer in compliment for TD Bank with the Americard account.

On this end a no frills no chills lender. Going to miss it when i close my card with them next year as i trim back the lineup again in ditching AF cards.

I love TD Bank after having a checking account for awhile they finally let me in SL $5k never got increase but auto upgraded to cash card some months back.

I had a bank account with them for a few years and never got anything in the mail. Then out of nowhere i started getting mailers two or three times a month. It never interested me as i have other cards that offer the same as them.

I would say its safe to say that once they have you on their radar you may be getting other mailers often. You have alot of time between now and Oct 31st to see if you want to wait until you score gets better to apply.

I got this card for the same exact bonus offer last year, in a pre-approved mailer as well. They gave me a $7500 limit with scores in the low 700s at the time.

Used it once to pay homeowners insurance then into the sock drawer it went. They did send me a closure notice for inactivity but give you 60 days to charge something to keep the account open.

If for nothing else, the bonus is easy enough to earn.

I do not know about the TD Bank preapproval, but I've had a Nordstrom card for 1.5 years. It has grown from $300 to $6,600. I called about upgrading to the signature and was told that they do not upgrade. it has to be a separate application.

I'm a TD Bank customer, went into bank for a transaction, teller told me I had a preapproval offer. I declined because didn't want to be embarrassed so I went home, applied online and was approved with a $3000SL it's a cash back rewards, I spent $500 and got $150 cash back. Cards been great.

Any updates? I received a mailer and am curious. Have a prior relationship with TD from about 5 years ago on a co-branded charge card. Account was paid in full in 1 year. Wonder if they have a good memory...

I never applied for the card. I went with NFCU instead and got their Cash Rewards card. But I have gone to the TD Bank card page recently and noticed they're now offering the $200 for $500 spend from there as well. Makes me glad I didn't take the mailer offer after all.

Thanks for the update. The current offer runs through March 25, 2018, so I may wait until March 24, 2018 to apply...if I'm still interested then. I didn't have any issues with TD in the past. The $200 SUB on $500 spend has my attention. They gave me an awesome SL and 0% interest 5 years ago, but I'm not otherwise awestruck by their current product line-up.

Nothing on their ccs, but their branches here are open Sunday, which makes them pretty unique in this area.
