Virgin America (Comenity) Visa accounts to be closed

All Comenity Virgin America Visa accounts will be closed as of 1/4/2018. They started me out at a low limit and never raised it so I don't really care a whole lot. Looks like the new Alaska will be continuing to suggest the mileage plan visa thru BofA for current Virgin America cardholders. With a new hard pull of course! I already called and asked if I could transfer this account to a Total Rewards Visa and the answer was unfortunately no. Oh well!

Thanks for sharing. Had hoped that these would be taken over by BoA or the limit opened up in a new car. That will be a $30K limit closed down for me. Oh well.

I was hoping the same, but I guess it is time to replace this limit from someone else. This is the second one that they will end next year- Fuel Rewards and Virgin America.

I am shocked that BofA didn't pick up the portfolio. Guessing the UW standards for some might of been to big of pill for them to swlallow being BofA. That is my only guess why they wouldn't of wanted to buy it out as I am sure commentiy was trying to sell it

Sucks, that wwas probably Comenity's best card, and the airline was pretty cool as well. RIP to both the card and airline

I agree happypill. Loved flying Virgin America. CL with VA was only $3000 so life continues. Is the consensus that it is better to call and close the account so it reports closed by consumer vs. the closed by issuer message?

Hate that BA won't approve AA for me right now. Was hoping for the conversion. I will just move my points for now and garden for awhile and app later. Will probably fly more with American since VA is no longer available.

It looks like that the UW stantards under BOA are different based on the conversation that I had today. Instead, they want you to apply directly and to start fresh. This is the same scenerio that probably happened with Cabelas and Cap 1 ended up taking the portfolio.

Comenity Bank will not transfer any credit limit on the VA card to any other card.... any way, I already replaced the limit on this card so no major hit on my end.

They just sent me a letter friday i was bumped one tier and will be getting a new card then an email today my account is closing **bleep** really i just lost 4k in available credit and age of account come on what gives
