I can't remember. ... but somewhere was posted talking about this but I can't find it...

When you have the capital one platinum card....are you suppose to use your credit card monthly as well as paying for the 5th statement "credit limit increase ".... ? Do you still get your CLI if you skip a month in spending?

Also, after you get the CLI on the platinum , would it be wise if I have the qs1 card ,with 1250 limit on it 0 balance, to combine the qs1 into the platinum card and then I would assume doing that would close the qs1 card.....then could I get by with upgrading the platinum card to just a plain quicksilver card since it's so hard to upgrade the qs1?

Hopefully yall can make sense of my plan and are able to chime in....

Thanks yall

The more you use it and pay it off the more obvious it is to them that you need more credit and can handle more credit.

I use my cards for everything and pay large payments WEEKLY.

Some cards will have glass ceilings. If your credit improves dramatically, its easier to open a new Cap One card with better interest rate and higher limit than to modify an existing account that was opened with worse credit.

I did receive a $9,000 CLI on one card, but found it much easier to get new accounts than large CLI.

YMMV.

+1 SF800's advoce... use as much as you can and PIF as often as needed to be able to keep charging.

I wanted to add though, you do not have to pay for a CLI, the steps increase or any other CLI, with Cap1.

I also would recommend combining after you get converted to QS, I'm not a fan of AF cards, especially when they offer nothing over the no AF version.

I thought capital one would only allow you to have only 2 cards at a time..unless I misunderstood post I read a while back....

That's why I was thinking since I read qs1 is hard to upgrade... I just figured combine that card with my platinum (letting qs1 close) and taking the limit on the platinum card (after combining qs1 into it) then upgrading that platinum card into a plain quicksilver card.

Right now I have had the qs1 card for almost 3 years with a 1250 limit on it and zero balance! And my platinum card I just got it in July 17 and has a 1000 limit on it with a zero balance. I have used both cards and right now are PIF. I just want to get away from qs1 and platinum and get a plain quicksilver card.

Anyone think it's possible? And will I receive Mt builder step increase if I did skip a month in spending? Because I did.

I got that message for about a month, then one day I had an upgrade available from my platinum to a no fee quicksilver. just keep trying.

It took several months before I was offered the opportunity to upgrade Cap One Platinum to QS. Roughly a month after upgrading I was able to get a $100 CLI and I’m still on steps. While I have had several customer service reps give me different dates, I haven’t seen my steps increase yet. I’m thinking now it will be in December. 😣

I also got QS1 prior to the PC QS. I received notification that it, too was on steps with a date of March 2018. Once it receives its CLI, I’m planning on merging them together.
