The email didn't indicate a particular card. It only references my access number. I hope you receive the offer too.

edit to add: It appears to be offered to "Navy Federal Visa Rewards Card"

The fine print exclusion refers to the double rewards offer NFCU currently has going for wholesale clubs. Enjoy the free Costco if you'd want to go for it!

fine print:

Offer valid for new and existing Navy Federal Visa Rewards cardholders only. Offer not available for Platinum Visa cardholders. Receive double rewards on net purchases made at warehouse clubs. “Net purchases” means the sum of your eligible purchase transactions minus returns and refunds.

Thanks for posting this! I have been considering apping for the Citi Costco Anywhere Card and didn't have Costco Membership yet. Now I won't have to pay for it, $60 savings! Cha Ching!

DW got this for her Platinum card but I did not get it for my Flagship card. She forwarded me the email, and just to clear up some confusion...

So the statement credit is valid for Platinum cards, but the double rewards are not since that card has no rewards to begin with. We have a Costco near us; may give them a try instead of BJ's to test out the waters. Unfortunately I can't earn Starpoints there since they don't accept Amex (or Discover or MasterCard), so I will of course be paying with my Flagship Rewards card for quadruple points.

Everyone should know that to take part in this promotion, you have to have received the email and you have to follow the link provided to purchase the memebership in order to receive reimbursement.

I purchased the membership online at costco.com and found out through another members post on the NFCU thread that you actually have to purchase through the link, therefore be targeted for the promo. I am on with NFCU working with them to try and get it credited. I did have an instant chat with a CSR rep on Friday and she didn't advise of the link either.

Just thought I would let everyone know that you won't automatically get reimbursed if you didn't receive the promo email.

Mandm, You seem to have it right. I just spoke with a rep at Navy fed and they assurred me this would only work had I received the email first. Although one can access the link to purchase the certificate, it doesnt appear you will be reimbursed without the original invitiation, guess I have to keep waiting.

I contacted Navy yesterday and discussed the string of events. I believe they are going to reimburse me for the cost of the membership since the CSR that I chatted on line with on Friday prior to purchasing the membership certificate also didn't advise. She did tell me it was a valid offer, and purchase and I will be reimbursed via "DCR", but never told me I had to have had received the email. So, I went ahead and purchased. This morning I have what appears to be a second charge for the $60, but assuming it will turn into a credit by tomorrow. If not, I will have now been charged twice!

Costco beats BJs by a mile IMO. The store brand Kirkland products are as good as the name brands (and in some cases even manufactured by them.)

Will do. Not everyone receives the same promos, not sure why (it's not like a pre-qual for a credit card)! Why shouldn't everyone be entitled?!

That said, hopefully I will receive reimbursement if not for any other reason that their CSR should have known to let me know that if I didn't receive the email, that I didn't qualify. Not dead in the water yet and if not, so be it. They are trying to get it reimbursed for me and that's all I can ask for.

It's great that folks are posting things like the promotion, but it would be helpful if all of the information is provided when doing so. This way the rest of us are educated when going to take advantage! If it's targeted doesn't help those of us that don't receive the email!

That's why I always assume it's a targeted offer unless otherwise stated. Hope you get your reimbursement.

Thanks for posting OP. Just another reason I wish I was in with NFCU. Since they've advertised during the last 2 Bears games, I'm hoping that maybe they'll have another backdoor way to join soon. It seems like they're looking for new members.

EDIT: brief glance at terms in the bottom of the email offer answered my question - nope. ". Offer not valid for renewal of an existing Costco membership or an upgrade of an existing membership"

Can any existing Costco members confirm whether this certificate is usable towards renewal or if it's only good for new signup? We're up for renewal in March but if I can get the reimbursed certificate now that'd be awesome.

If not:
I wonder if since my wife is the primary member on our account could I then remove myself from hers, use my NFCU offer link & open a new Costco membership with me as primary then add my wife next year once hers expires? Honestly I likely wouldn't as I can't help but expect this to cause all sorts of mayhem as I've got citi Costco (with wife as AU) tied to my existing member # and I'm not sure all the hassle of changing things with Costco & Citi would be worth the $60.
