Asking for higher CL?

did a little searching about increasing your CL on credit cards and kinda got stuck. First question would be what is the max allowed CL increase on a credit card. i have a WaMu platinum (soon to be Chase) with a CL of 4500 and a HL of 3000. since my avil on credit is about 30% .. i want to raise it up it up a bit so it doesnt look as bad. is there a standard procedure of how much i can be approved for? also is it a soft pull or a hard pull when i want to raise my limit. i spoke to an experian rep.and said he wasnt sure but he said it was most likely a soft pull. let me know! thanks in advance (:

wamu does not take customer requests for cli I believe and since it's about to change to chase they probably would be on a freeze from increases anyway.

however once it changes over to chase, you can request anything you want but it will be a hard pull.

now how much you would be approved for has so many variables, highest current CL, income, debt ratio, usage, etc.

Saved me some trouble by calling and asking. sucks about the hard pull though knowing that inquiries stay on your CR for 2 years though =| ah well 2 in 1 years time shouldnt bother me too much though
