Please run from BBVA Compass Bank! Serious warning!

I need to share my nightmare with this unorganized excuse of a bank. Opened BBVA Compass ClearPoints Visa last month with SL of 6K and 18.24% APR. Limit is low compared to my other cards. APR is acceptable for a rewards card. My problems started with the call center, and their website. I had some questions, and the call center had closed early due to storms. I must mention that this verbage is often implied on their website as well. They are a hurricane of a mess! The hold times average 30 minutes minimum. Many times you'll wait, then as the line rings, as if connecting to a live person, you suddenly become disconnected. Just to call again. I had it happen multiple times. The worst was 4 times in a row. Now on to their website. I set up my checking account for bill payment. They pulled money from my checking account as a trial run. They never deposited the money back into my account. It wasn't just 8 or 10 cents either. It was $10! Much too high for a trial run. Well, they said they issued the credit, but nope, nada, never! I had to dispute with my bank, and got my money back! PITA! Also their website has many technical issues and doesn't always sign you in correctly, or will say "token expired". I closed my account last week, but noticed on Tuesday that it was still open. I called to ask if it was in fact closed. Was told it was, but won't be fully closed for 30 days, in case customers want to reopen. The rep was so courteous and sympathetic of my issues, that he convinced me to reopen the account! Biggest mistake ever!!!! He said everything would be like before. No changes. Except for the fact that they ran my credit and I received a HP from TU! This was not disclosed to me, and I would have never approved that. So now, they need to listen to the recording of the call before they remove the inquiry. Lol. We know that will probably never happen. I did take down names and agent IDs. Today I called TU to see if they could remove the inquiry. They are requesting a police report. Police report filed! I will be faxing over to TU for deletion! I will also file a complaint with the BBB. This bank needs to go away. I hope no one else has to waste their time with this pathetic organization!

Well known fact BBVA isn't a very well ran bank. Just do some searching on this forum in the search box. Some people haven't had issues at all others have had many especially with the old NBA card they had before losing that contract.

I just got the BBVA Compass card, but will mostly do my business with the local branches, as there's almost one on every corner. My separated husband (still my good friend) has banked with them for the last 3 years and has not encountered any issues thus far.

They've never been on my radar, despite being the first bank I used for checking and savings when I turned 18.

Most of us stopped taking BBVA seriously when they marked all of our apps as "unable to verify identity" when we applied for the NBA Amex.

My wife and I had a joint account with BBVA. We had several issues. For instance, when we used their bill pay or even when we requested payment from external accounts, BBVA would not process the payment then charge a return fee. We ended up filling several complaints with regulatory agencies, which resulted in us getting our money back, but we quit using them. Been with Ally ever since.

Not surprising! They need to be shut down by the Feds!

Just got "price you pay" letter out the mail yesterday for BBVA. Interesting that they pulled Ex Vantage score (683) in addition to Ex Fico 8 (696). I don't think I'll have issues like most on here since this bank is a well used bank locally. We'll see though! Just posted this since thus bank pulled the Vantage score. That was a shocker to me.

Correction: BBVA used FICO 9 and Vantage Score 3.0, not FICO 8 as I stated in the above post.
