Hi to all my fico family ,reason of the post is going on a shopping spree and would like to know wich card offers the best extended warranty out there for electronics,specifically laptops and tvs,the extended warranty wich best buy offers is pretty expensive and i would like to know if there is a credit card that offers the same protection,in my portfolio i have:chase sapphire reserve,amex bcp,discover it,chase freedom unlimited,jet blue plus card,bofa travel rewards and cap 1 quicksilver,any inputs are highly appreciated,thanks and happy thanksgiving to all of you.

There's really no "best".

Amex Centurion extends the warranty 3 extra years. Mastercard warranties include wear and tear while other cards don't.

I believe Mastercard has no limit on the number of claims in a year. All providers cap it at $10,000 per claim as far as I've seen.

Citi cards offer "price rollback" protection, I'm not sure anyone else offers that.

I don't really know much about the cards you mentioned but my impression is that most cards will give you about a year's extra warranty. Most cards will also cover accidental damage for 90 days after purchase though I think some mastercards can go up to 180 days.

The standouts that I can think of are Citi CCs. I think some Citi CCs extend warranties for 24 months.

Personally I buy my large electronics at Costco and if you are a member then that's what I recommend to people. Costco will automatically give you an extra year of warranty on top of the manufacturer's warranty and they have an arrangement with Citi where that added time is then doubled if you buy it using the Citi Costco CC. So that's typically a total of 4 years for TVs, computers, and appliances. Can't think of a longer warranty term than that, at least not for free.

Ha! That's exactly what I was going to post! Discover is also very good for price matching. I second Costco. You can get around the visa only exclusion by buying online and getting it delivered, if it's an issue

Thanks for sharing the video. It's relatively detailed for Amex and Discover, but doesn't really go into detail on VS/MC. It just gives general general terms which can vary a lot by card and issuer.

For me, the best extended warranty from a major issuer would be Citi (on a number of their cards including the TY cards). As far as I know, they are the only ones that give 2 additional years - even if the original warranty is only one year. Most other cards just give 12 months or double up to one year. Along with price rewind, this is really enough of a benefit that I always consider using a Citi card on any expense purchase where warranty might be a factor - even if I can get greater rewards elsewhere.

My other favorite would be the SSFCU Power Travel Rewards, but the geography is very limited. This card doubles the warranty up to two years (not quite as good as Citi unless the original warrant is already 2 years), but it also offers 120 days of price protection where 30 or 60 days is more typical on other cards.

For stuff that is likely to break or is expensive to fix, I think these extended warranties are pretty valuable.
