Approved for Chase PerfectCard!

Almost a month since I started working on my scores.

2/13 - EQ 643

3/8 - EQ 711

Just applied for a Chase PerfectCard and was approved! Didn't say my limit, but should be here in two weeks! I'm so happy. I'm considering applying for an Amex right now!

Congrats! Now, stop.

AmEx is too troubled now to get in with them for the first time.

When we have major banks facing de-listing due to achieving penny stock status (Citi), there's a lot to be said for waiting to see who comes out of the mess intact.

How did you achieve it ?

let the score rise over 50 within less than one month?

my score has stayed for several months..

When I checked my score the first time here's what my numbers looked like... (2/13)

UTL - 87%

Discover - (414/500)

FIA Sovereign Bank - (635/700)

Length -

Longest was 1 year, 1 month

Average is 7 months

Installments -

Car loan - (15k)

Student - (2.7K deferred)

I brought my UTL down to 17% and gained a month on my average. Next month's statements will read 9% UTL so I'm expecting to stay even with the recent new account.

My next plan is to see if FIA can do a product change to a BoA card, and get a CLI as well. Discover card will be 6 months in May so I'll try for a CLI as well.

No baddies, no lates. Only 19 so credit is new.

Well, got a little crazy... Applied for a Citi PremierPass Amex. Got the 1 week message, so we'll see what happens.

hey thanks for posting this here thats my goal i've just started managing my credit too im 20 years old and when i first started my EQ was 566 with UTL @ 103% and im down to 91% and my credit history is 1 year and a month old now im up to 616 on EQ and 646 On TU do u mind posting which report did they pull.

Not sure who they pulled, haven't gotten any sort of notification and there was nothing when it said I was approved. I'll keep you posted.

UTL was huge in my score increases, keep paying!

I'd concur with Hauling re: the AmEx app - don't do it! If I were you, I'd wait and see who emerges from the current mess as the kind of lender you'd actually want to be doing business with.

Yeah, it's a good idea. If you caught my earlier post, I ended up applying for a Citi Amex to get my feet wet with Amex. We'll see what happens.

Aha - good luck with that one, then! I read your post earlier, was about to reply, then got distracted... and came back and replied hours later. Hadn't caught the bit about the new app. I hope you get it - those AmEx-network-cards-not-issued-by-AmEx tend to have some pretty good rewards & benefits, so... fingers crossed!

That's a great card, but American Express (the bank) will have no knowledge of your Citi AmEx card.

Your card is a co-branded AmEx. You get a lot of the buyer protection stuff that we think of in connection with American Express, but it's a Citi card.

I happen to think that co-branded AmEx cards are great. You can use them to get all the consumer goodies without worrying about the actual AmEx weirding out on you.
