Upgrade off to Venture ~ opinions?

Received an offer to upgrade my Cap One QS to Venture card. I don't have a travel card or time to travel really but I do have other rewards cards. Most recently BCE which I believe will be my primary card. Would the Venture still be a mastercard? Will it give me a higher ceiling for CLIs down the road?

I wouldn't upgrade if they include an annual fee. Unless you have the QS1 which is what you have in your signature.

All the Venture is good for is the sign up bonus and having some extra CL. It's basically just a "churn" card.

Keep the QS. In my opinion the venture isn't a good card or even a travel card.

Venture is really only good for the signup bonus. You want to apply for it new, not do a PC from an existing card.

I wouldn't PC to a Venture for the same reasons stated already... You miss out on a $500 bonus when you apply for it new. While its great as a 2% card for the first year, it doesn't really give you any benefits that are worth the current hefty anual fee orther than the frequent 18 month 0% BT offers. And really, for $99, I don't really think that's worth it. As long as they keep my AF at $49, I'll probably keep it.

For your second question... If you apply for it new, it would be a Visa. If you PC is from a QS MC, it will stay a MC.

No way to tell because no data points at all given.

Some folks want to stay under 5/24 for Chase consideration reasons, so a PC may make some sense. Losing out on $500 SUB sucks, of course, but some folks value getting future Chase cards more.

Secondly, the Venture isn't a travel card, it's a 2% cashback card with an AF. So comparing it to a 1.5% card with no AF means you have to spend $19,000 a year on it to overcome a $95 annual fee and make more cash back than a 1.5% with no AF. $19,000 is $1583 a month -- if you don't put that much on a 1.5% card, the 2% card makes no sense.

If you do put a lot on the card, AND you're close to or over 5/24 and want to get a Chase card or two, PC may make sense. Otherwise, no.

Thanks guys, I'll keep it as a QS card then. I try to avoid AF. They'd start to add up over a bunch of cards. Just trying to increase my available credit properly. Just takes time. My QS will be just used for UTI at this point as I recently was approved for BCE and I think me and Amex are gonna get close lol

Just to clarify...Venture is a 2% “travel credit” rewards card when redeeming points against a travel related purchase as a “purchase eraser” redemption. Redeeming for other stuff such as cash back, it nets about 1%.
