I concur. This is great so far.

Gas overlaps with Discover, but having gas on the Freedom means I'll get 5% on gas at Costco, which makes my arithmetic easier.

Was already getting 5% on telecom with the Ink card, so that's a wash.

But 5% on Android Pay means I'll be getting 5% on essentially all of my grocery purchases and a fair amount of other in-store purchases.

In my double cash period for Discover so gas will go there.

Phone bills will go to US Bank Cash+ but I can switch internet over.

Mobile payments, though? Hmm. I don't really have much use for that but I could try.

Also for some people especially those with ink plus/preferred cards or CSR/CSP the 5x is worth more than 5% cash back with discover.

To be honest, I've never understood the allure of the "pay by phone" phenomenon. I don't find it more convenient than paying with a physical card. Yeah as crazy as it may sound I think even 5% cash back may not be enough incentive for me to jump on the mobile payments bandwagon. It just seems like more trouble than it’s worth.

lol. I was excited to get a Samsung phone because I heard that Samsung Pay was great as a mobile payment option. I've used it a few times but definitely has its issues i.e. unlocking phone or actually reading properly or not all places accepting it so still have to carry physical cards, etc..

Once I used it at a gas station. After multiple attempts, the clerk said in a suprised voice that it had gone through. Several weeks passed and when I reviewed my credit card statement, I saw that it hadn't and that I hadn't been charged.

I think I've only used it a handful of time.

" Plus, note that eligible internet/cable services include Hulu, Netflix and Spotify in addition to more expected companies like AT&T and Verizon."

Anyone know if there's any truth to that? That's would be nice.

BTW why does Chase keep their categories a secret? I like how Disco tells you up front every year what its going to be.

Samsung pay works just about everywhere that the customer has access to the card machine. You just hold it over where you would normally swipe the card and the machine thinks that's what you did.

I'll max this quarter with 5% on samsung pay, phone bill, netflix and cable. My disco is still in it's match period so all my fuel spend will go there.

What's the cap on quarterly spending? I don't have the F yet just the FU. Also, 5% URs is 7.5% if redeemed for travel. Huge!

Mobile pay is so easy I taught my 70s mom and 80s neighbor to use it. They love it. Accepted everywhere around me. Even tiny restaurants around here are now accepting it. Went to a handmade goods fair and everyone had a Square contactless card reader. Everyone.

Cards are dead in the short term. Too much hassle, identity theft, wallet theft, etc. My old Android phone just works (fingerprint to unlock and tap). Takes 3 seconds to checkout at my supermarket.
