BB&T is no more

I was recently approved for BB&T cards. I got an approval email on Decembr 7th and December 16th and neither application ever showed up in their system and they have no way of checking. Closed all three existing accounts I have and submitted a credit bureau dispute with BB&T. Done, good riddens. IF they don't remove the inq's from December 1st and December 16th then we'll have to take it one step further with Equifax and/or CFPB (assuming they're still taking complaints) Good thing I have a safe cushion.

Were they for total CL growth? Bonuses? Diversifying lenders even further? Some special feature?

I've never heard much praise for any one BB&T product, let alone three.

Sorry to hear this 12 but I'm not quite following the situation: Did the accts. actually exist and you could see them in your online banking--or did they not approve them in the first place but said they did? They had already blown it with me when they triple-pulled my EQ years ago for their Visa card-which ended up as a denial.

I had 3 existing BB&T accounts which were opened. Two within the last month. I applied for two more accounts and received the congratulations email that each account had been approved for $6,500. However, when I called BB&T they said they could not see those two approved applications (no applications existed in their system). I can see the December 16th application not being their right now considering it was a weekend, but the December 7th application should have been there and a card at my door.

Hi mate, last month I was pre-approved for a Discover card and I was declined after. I wrote to CFPB and voila..no hard inquiry on EQ. Write to CFPB and wait few weeks.

Thanks so to hear about your Discover issue. I've used CFPB in the past and they have worked wonders. I've heard CFPB is being stripped of some of it's regulatory powers. Maybe that's just with its big investigations, not us little people.

Sorry to hear of your mis-fortune. While your initial post is very vague...
I want to know if you wrote down your application ID numbers or saved a PDF file of the approval letters?
Usually when something is approved, I'll print it as a PDF to my Documents folder.
If you have any of this information, you should write a letter into them via the CFPB and take it from there.

Thanks. I'm going to give them 2 weeks to contact me before I start the blitz. I don't necessarily look at it as a misfortune though. I have more to trim. I have their approval emails. I don't believe BB&T give out application numbers, you just get the email.

Scroll thru your emails slowly.

When I got my approval emails, there was a case number in smaller print under the approval message. Maybe they can reference apps from that.

I have no complaints with them so far, i'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for that information. I did locate the CRD5 case numbers on both applications. I called and they still can't locate applications. Will call new account opening team tomorrow. At this point, I just want the inq's removed. Not interested in any business with BB&T after this experience.

No update. Waiting for 30 days to see if they can fix this internally before contacting authorities
