Apparently NFCU has different (stricter) underwriting requirements on their new More Rewards Amex card, so they don't allow product changes or credit reallocations for that card. I've also heard that the reason they don't reallocate credit amongst their other cards is because they follow two different guidelines: (a) max credit across all cards and (b) max credit on any single card. They consider the risk factor to be different on a $20,000 card than a $10,000 card.

I'm thinking of maybe getting one more card and shifting from the old cards credit line to the new card. Is it possible? Thanks!

I can understand not combining cards but why would anyone care about shifting credit lines? In the end the lending institution is not granting more credit. Just reallocating within your existing lineup with them. Also, doesn't make sense to me why those who do allow this practice need to SP or HP you to reallocate lines.
