This is simple to do. The balance on the card that you want to get rid of must be zero, and make sure you use any rewards that it has, because if you don't those will be lost. Also, be aware that this resets the 6 month CLI clock, so if you have a CLI coming soon, you might want to wait. After that, the easiest way is probably to just call them and tell them to do it. You can do it online yourself, if you like.

Ok, so I got my baby step credit increase on my Quicksilver Platinum card today...... I also have a Quicksilver One card that I want to get rid of.....

How do I go about combining these 2 card limits and canceling the Quicksilver one card??

This way I will go from having 1500 on Quicksilver platinum card and 1250 on the Quicksilver One to having one Quicksilver card with 2750....

Yeah, I figured it out how to do it online. I did have zero balance on both cards. And did not have any rewards to use up.

I had just received my CLI yesterday (on Christmas) so as far as the clock reset deal it's all good because it worked out for me that I was able to get my baby step increase and combined the cards...

So now my next CLI from Capital One is due 6 months from now in June so it's all good.

Plus by then I have 2 or 3 other cards that should have an automatic CLI by June, and my CS will be starting to look better, along with paying down some balances....::-$:-$

I was just really wanting to know from anyone on here how to combine the cards.. I knew I read somewhere the rules behind it and all.... :-)

I'm actually looking at this myself, since I checked my Cap 1 offers yesterday and found a prequalified offer for a Quicksilver Rewards Visa at a considerably lower APR (19.24%) (plus 0% APR for the first 9 months and 3% fee on balance transfer for the same period) than the QS MC I have now, which was upgraded from a Platinum last June and has a 25.74% APR. I had a $500 auto-CLI on the current QS in September, if I remember right - that would have been after the 6th statement cut since I got the card (then a Platinum) in February 2017 and got my first statement in April. So I should be eligible for another CLI after the 12th statement in March.

So, I'm wondering if, assuming I apply for this new prequal and am approved, whether I could combine this QS Visa with the QS MC, BT what I have on the MC to the Visa, and then combine the zero-balance MC with the Visa in June/July (depending on when I apply for it) and close out the MC. Is that workable?

Looks like my best option, if I do take up that offer, is to keep the new card active with the lowest possible utilization (i.e., PIF) until I can zero out the older card and then combine it. I'm already working on paying down my secured Platinum so that I can close it out since I don't need it any more, and get the deposit back - I can put that into what's left of the QS MC balance to get it paid down faster in that case.

EDIT/UPDATE: Took the chance and applied on that QS Rewards Visa prequal, got approved. Details in Credit Card Approvals.

Just combined two of mine online through the Cap 1 site...took all of 5 minutes and I got an email confirming itabout 10 minutes after that. Simple as can be. By combining the QS1 and QS I avoided the annual fee, got a slightly lower interest rate(still awful) and got a combined limit of $2750.

Since I received my new QS Rewards Visa today (which turns out, in addition to the other benefits I learned about when applying for it, to be a
Visa Signature card), I'm now looking at what I can/should BT around my portfolio. One thing I might try is BT'ing Discover to the new QS and the QS Mastercard balance to Penfed, letting the MC sit for six months and then combine it with the QS Visa, while in the meantime paying down my remaining balance on my secured Platinum until I can BT it to another card without too much disruption, closing it, getting the deposit back and using it to pay off or pay down at least one other card. That's just one of the strategies I can try, though; I need first to find out what the best time is to BT a balance on any given card.
