I just got approved somehow (lol) for this card and got the standard "your card will be mailed to you in 7-10 days". I have heard that you can call Citi and ask to have it sent faster. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks in advance.

I don't remember having to call. It was mailed via UPS and received it in 3-4 days, I think. But, if you want it sent overnight, you can try to call.

I know my Platinum AA card wasn't overnighted or anything, just sent by standard mail.

The AAdvantage isn't really an elite card despite its $450 annual fee. The annual fee basically covers the Admirals Club lounge cost with a slight discount included. There aren't any other perks on the card that basic Citi cards don't have, other than earning 1-2x AA miles per dollar spent.

*As far as getting the card expedited...it's worth a call, but keep your expectations low. I wouldn't pay extra for it. My Prestige was expedited without my needing to request it, but my AA Platinum arrived late...by USPS...the day after some CSR at Citi told me it had been returned to them as undeliverable. (How does a shipping system or CSR come up with a false positive for returned, undeliverable mail?)

Last time I asked Citi I was told no on new approval and possible on replacement card if damage, lost, or stolen. You can call and check to see if things have changed since I asked some year and a half ago...

Don't forget Global Entry\TSA credit.

I think it's still an elite card if you do travel and use this particular airline and partners.

That being said, and since we got off the subject, I don't think I'll be calling to expedite delivery.

LIke "prime" (in the sense it is often used on this forum) "elite" doesn't really have much meaning either.

It sounds as if should mean something like "for the 1%", hard to get, requiring lots of wealth (and maybe excellent credit, but wealth can make up for less good credit!) and few cards are like this.

But I think for many it really does just equate to "high AF", so above $400, regardless of the actual value of the benefits, in which case this card is elite, as are the old useless Barclays cards

The only other Citi card that has free checked bag is the AAdvantage Platinum. Thank You cards do not have it, Double Cash, Diamond Prefered etc certainly don't have it.

The way to figure the benefits is, the $95 AAdvantage Platinum provides a checked bag, early boarding, Miles Returns (up to 10,000 of award miles use returned) so that is the baseline, included in the Executive card as well.

The AAdvantage Executive, for $350 more, adds perhaps some more checked bags, Admiral lounge access, perhaps for AU's, Global Entry, and the other perks specific to that card.

It's not an elite card. It includes the standard benefits of a typical airline card plus Admiral's club access. You're paying for the Admiral's Club access with the higher annual fee (at a discounted rate). Other airline cards also offer free checked bags, priority boarding, heck, even a first class companion ticket, as well as lounge access with the same AF, and in Delta's case, MQM's.

What would one classify the Prestige back when it gave 3x, 2, 1x with a 1.66 cpp redemption rate for AA flights, Admiral's Club access, $250 in airline credits, and free golf, and 4th hotel night free for the same AF every year, then?

Not sure why it's necessary to go back and forth about whether a credit card is 'elite'. There is no set definition of that word as it pertains to a credit card. If a person has the card, uses it a lot and finds the benefits to be worth the AF and more and to them it's an 'elite' card, then it is for them. On the other hand if you don't find the benefits worthwhile for that amount of AF then it's not.

As a data point, or for anyone who is curious, yes the card can be expedited shortly after approval.

I was approved for this same card over a year ago and was *asked* if I wanted it expedited (w/o any extra fees) while speaking to an ID verification agent. A friend of mine who was approved for the AA Exec CC last year requested to see about expediting and it was. Most cards *can* get expedited at a specific point and without incurring an extra fee - whether it's a brand new card or reissue. 100+ CCs experience, that's how I know... regardless of flavor (or "elite" foolishness lol).
