I was checking my Chase FU account today and noticed on the my offer's tab I had a green checkmark for the CSP with a rate of 21.24% and 50k SUB for 4k spend in 3 mo's.

After that I went to the Chase Credit Journey tab to see my TU Vantage score which I knew would update today, and noticed the Pre-qualifed offer for the CSP there also. I looked at the pricing terms on it and it has the same SUB but has a rate of 17.24% instead of 21.24%

I am wondering why the offer through Credit Journey has a much better interest rate than the offer through the normal Chase website..

Has anyone else experienced/noticed this?

Great question. So far we don't really have data points on apps through Credit Journey -- are you over 4/24?

I was blacklisted by Chase for a long time, but Credit Journey showed me an offer back in May, so I immediately logged into Chase instead and saw the green checkmark. Apped and instantly approved ($500 toy limit). I did not think to check the offer terms between the two websites, though.

I edited my first post to reflect the APR's I saw today..The post I made was the APR's I saw yesterday but forgot to make this post yesterday.

So CCJ is offering same card and same SUB for 17.24%

Normal Chase account portal offer shows 21.24%

I am not ready to pull the trigger on the CSP until I figure out what I want to do with my current line-up of cards, but when I do I will definately take screen shots of both and apply through CCJ for the better terms.

I just think this is odd that there is such a "drastic" APR difference between the two applications, and thought this information may be useful for other's who are about the pull the trigger on a Chase CC app.

Credit journey or whatever it is using vantage scores is it not? Probably Vantage TU if I am not mistaken. I have plenty of Chase cards and have yet to sign up for that site/score as it is just another one of 100's of sites that offer Vantage TU score. Although in the case of OP it might be a benefit for me I see none other then another place that offers a TU vantage score which is a dime a dozen.

I am wondering if Chase gives pre-qualification's, specifically the interest rate based off of two different scoring systems.

CCJ uses TU vantage scores which they use that score to generate a pre-qual

and the regular Chase website soft pull's a traditional Fico score or Banc card score?

My normal Fico 08 score's and Fico 08 Banccard scores are in the 750-790 range, while my TU Vantage score is in the 820 range.

That would make sense as far as why my APR is lower through the CCJ portal rather than the traditional pre-qual page through Chase account, as my "score" is higher on CCJ because they use a different model.

It's a crap product with no real use other than to muddle and confuse the already crowded credit score market (fico has what, like 28+ flavors? then you have vantage along with other variations offered by the CRAs) or to give people an inaccurate idea of what their credit score actually is. Regarding the difference between offer apr's I would side with the theory about different divisions needing to boost their signup numbers and or offering different promotions for the same product. In any case I feel that your offer is contingent/&or based upon your internal chase risk score so even in the unlikely event that CCJ actually used VS as their model. But let me digress to the important part.

The CSR. If you are looking at the CSP & are coming up pre-apprpoved on chase's pre-qual site I would strongly suggest you apply for the CSR first. If you're someone who will benefit from the sapphire preferred, it really is worth it to shoot for the reserve.

Once you account for the $300 travel credit (and believe me a LOT more than you would think codes as travel for chase) your're left with a card that gives you 3x vs 2x UR PLUS 50% more redemption value for those points, for about $50 in anual fee vs the CSP. I was pre-quald for the CSP and I took the pre-qual over cold apping the CSR based on not fully understanding that the sizeable $450 AF isnt actually when you end up paying but moreso because I did not think I had the scores or existing CL to support a $10k min card. And I've regretted it ever since. Have to wait until Aug & take a HP cli in order to PC to the CSR.

Based on your signature, your scores and existing CL are more than enough to support a CSR, especially if your getting the CSP in prequal results. Just some food for thought from someone whose really pissed about not taking the chance to get denied the CSR before taking the easy pre-qual.

Chase likely uses neither Vantage Score nor FICO for underwriting. They have their own internal risk score which they provide to some people.

Chase has a relationship with FICO for providing the required adverse action reasons as required by law. Chase pays FICO for those reasons (and the score) and provides the score and reasons because the law requires them to. But they probably don't use FICO, and they likely don't even deny based on the reasons they paid FICO to provide.

Their internal score isn't required (by law) to be provided, I think, because internal bank records are different than credit bureau records under the law.

Chase's internal risk score is calculated using credit bureau data (for customers and non-customers) along with customer data from their own internal history with Chase lending. Not sure if it involves any bank-related data or not. So even if you're NOT a Chase customer, by signing up for CCJ you are giving them approval to pull a soft inquiry and throw your data into their score calculator. If denied, they spew FICO's generic garbage as if it means anything.

If I had known about the CSR, I would have taken a shot at getting it. I was prequal for the CSP, Freedom Unlimited , Slate, and Freedom. Had I known about the Reserve, I certainly would have grabbed that before getting the CSP or anything else.
