It's never a good idea to seek CLIs when you have high utilization reporting on any account. It's likely you'll waste a hard pull and still get denied but if you have no other hard inquiries in the last 12 months, it's only 1 HP and doesn't hurt as bad.

Hey All,

I'm a bit new to this but I had a quick question as to what your credit score needs to be in order to get a CLI. My initial limit was $1800 in July 2016 I have not received an increase since I had the card. My score has dropped since I had it though. My current score is TU630 FICO 8 and currently have high utilization on this card. I pay almost double the minimum payment a month. Also the "Request an increase" button appeared a few days ago. I would really love an increase as it would drop my utilization on that card as I continue to pay it down. Do you all think I can possibly get approved for an increase?

630? Probably not. Most likely BoA won't use your TU score to determine if you qualify for an increase either.

I've seen people here denied for new cards at 740, so at 630 your chances for an increase are small, especially with high utiliazation on the card you're looking to get an increase with.

A CLI is not just dependent on your scores OP. The results will largely depend on your entire profile if you decide to pull the trigger and request a CLI. This will be HP btw.

What does the rest of your profile look like and what is keeping your scores down? Do any of you other tradelines have high utilization? Any negative items?

Both myself and K-In-Boston have received very generous CLI's from BoA with high utilization reporting. I just went from $20K to $30K on my Cash Rewards card, while reporting 83% utilization.
