They should report the account after your first statement cuts if you are not making any payments before it. From my experience with Freedom, they seemed to do mid-cycle reporting when I made a payment so the balance got updated on credit reports. Not sure about CSR mid-cycle reporting since I haven't made any payment yet, but the account showed up right after my first statement.

They should bill the annual fee on the first day of month after your account opens, so expect it to come on Feb 1st for your case. If you spend enough on travel (the definition is pretty broad, from air tickets to local commute fares), you should be able to get the maximum travel credit, bringing the equivalent annual fee to $150.

I was approved for CSR card in mid-January and received the card three days after approval (it was sent by overnight delivery but there was a weather delay). I set up an online account at Chase.com which indicates that my charges for January and February are not “due” until March 6. Does this mean that Chase will not report the card and my CL until March? I’ve paid the entire balance charged to date so if Chase reports in February I’ll show a zero (or really small) balance. If I have any new purchases in the next week I plan to make a second payment just in case, again, Chase does February reporting. Is this overkill on my part? Also, when will I be billed for the annual fee? I want to avoid having the annual fee show as part of a balance.

Thus far I’ve used (or arranged to use for future travel) several card benefits, so I’m hopeful that the card proves worth the hefty AF.

Thanks PlyrStar93- I will have earned the $300 travel credit by April thanks to an upcoming trip. I’m traveling again in May and used the Chase luxury hotel portal to get a room upgrade (the hotel I chose does upgrades at booking rather than just at check in, and the basic room price was the same on the Chase portal as it was on Expedia/Priceline/and the hotel website). I’m also flying in March (ticket purchased with a different card) and look forward to using the airport lounge benefit and the primary insurance CDW for a rental car.

CSR with $0 AF first year? Uhm, never heard of that. It would be a $750.00 giveaway.

wrote:

I was approved 1/6 and statement date was 1/24. Due date 2/21. AF is $0 for the first year.

This can't be right. Either the card was a CSP instead a CSR, or else the annual fee was not waived. Chase never waives the annual fee on the CSR, but they always do on the CSP. If it really was the CSR, your annual fee will be billed on February 1.

I was approved 2/5/18. I paid in full last week. Nothing reported until the statement cut yesterday. I did continue to utilize the card after I paid it down to $0.
