I was just approved for BCE at a 500 CL. I was also approved for a PRG. Will the limit on the BCE have any impact on what I’m able to put on the PRG? Should I imagine that I have a 500 limit there as well and need to PIF when I hit that amount?

I don’t know if anyone has experience in a similar position. Or if I should just ask on chat or hit the check spending power button.

I spoke with a CSR on chat. She said that neither has anything to do with the other. She also said that you can test spending power 3 times a day without issue, and stressed that it WILL NOT TRIGGER FR, but any more and you should probably call. I tested $500 and $750 as single transactions and both said good to go.

She said that they don’t get skittish with new customers easily. More or less you have a perfect track record. Maybe that has something to do with the standards to even get approved in the first place and their risk algorithms?

I plan to charge pretty much everything to meet that minimum spend, which is why I was curious.

If you like the MR points from the PRG, or need to make the spend for bonus, use the card and pay in full on time.

Carry a backup in case they decline the charge, but for normal spend they will adapt to your charge / pay patterns.

Congrats on the new cards.

Yea that’s the impression I got. I used to spread spend across all of my cards and AZEO pre statement. I’ll be focusing on the PRG for now though and the BCE for everything else.

Yep, shouldn't be related. Just remember, PRG needs to be PIF. It's not a credit card. I'm excited for you, should be a huge step forward!

The PRG is a charge card, BCE is a credit card. I asked Amex how much can I spend on my Amex Platinum and was told Amex watches your spending habits aS to make you

If the card gets declined, it's not a big deal. Cashier's hardly care if one's card gets declined or not, as long as the person has another card to use.

While the check spending power is a great feature from Amex it does not mean that you will automatically be approved to charge that amount. Each transaction is approved at the time the card is used and there have been people who have had their cards declined even though the check spending feature showed a higher amount. A lot of people show $35k limits under the check spending on their charge cards. If all you have ever done is charge small purchases before, it is very unlikely that Amex would all of a sudden let you charge $30k. This is especially true if your income does not support the ability to repay that amount.

With Amex the more you use the card and pay your bill time more you will be able to charge. As suggested earlier, always carry an additional card in case the purchase is declined.
