Hopefully you will make your decision about which card to keep based on more criteria than this one experience with an address snafu. In recent years, address snafus have become difficult to resolve quickly with many banks for security reasons. The 7-10 day lag is often intentional on the part of the bank as one means of reducing fraud.

I will be interested in hearing how rapidly Barclay posts cash back rewards on the Uber card. Amex is slow as molasses on posting BCE cash back rewards, sometimes not starting them without a phone call, always posting them a month or two late, and requiring $25 to redeem.

In fact, that's what I really like about the Uber card, the points from each transaction is listed right there beside the posted charge so you know exactly how each merchant is coded and how much you earned. With most other cards like the BCE, unless you are really keeping track of every transaction, all you really get is the total you earned per statement period.

I also like how Uber shows the transaction and number of points next to it, and the points post right away to be used.
Some cards don't show anything and you have to hope you got the right number of points for a particular transaction, and they post when your statement closes.

That's interesting as I already have the AMEX promotioin credits on by BCE. I think I also have one referral too and got the $75 for them! The 0% balance transfer is really just something else!

I will be calling as I had the $200 offer for the BCE.

If anyone wants the $200 let me know if it's not workin on the incognito tab way. I have a thread I started for the BCE approved 4k on TU08 678 17% utilization 1.3YR AAoA. Don't be discuraged if you're building credit.

I've had positive customer service experiences with both Amex and Barclays. I have had more reasons to call Amex, but I have 6 cards with them vs. 3 with Barclays. It really does vary based on which products you're calling about, what your question/problem is, etc. Barclays is definitely more skittish about fraud prevention, but I actually don't mind that. I had to submit documentation to verify my identity when I applied for the Apple Rewards card which delayed my approval by a couple weeks. Yes, it was annoying at the time, but eventually I got the card I wanted. I'd rather have to wait for it than not get it.

As for rewards, I've posted several times about how annoying the Amex Blue Cash rewards are to redeem. I'm glad I got the card in that I got a great bonus offer, some awesome CLIs, and it was my first in a series of successful applications with Amex. However, I now have cards that equal or better its return on spend and it has retired to the sock drawer for the foreseeable future.

I wouldn't mind getting 4% on restaurants, but currently I get 3% on restaurants and groceries with my Synovus card and I don't feel like splitting that up. My spend is spread pretty thin among multiple cards already. Also, I question whether 4% return on such a broad category is sustainable long term for Barclays. I expect it will get nerfed in the next year or so. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm not sure why you're surprised. Barclays is a pathetic card issuer consisting of mostly co-brand cards, and a few cards they keep yanking and reviving a year or so later (Ring and Cash Forward come to mind). About the only good, competitive cards they have are Jet Blue and Uber.

People here already know Barclays is pathetic, especially compared to AMEX who is known to overnight cards for free without one asking, or offers cards that actually have some travel benefits to them.
