BBVA Compass Pre-Qualified

I got a pre qual letter in the mail today. Its for the BBVA Compass ClearPoints Credit Card. 0% APR for the first 13 months, 12.49%-30.48% after. 0% APR for 13 months on balance transfers. No annual fee. Is this a good card? And is a pre qual from them good? (meaning, if they are almost always approvals). Thanks!

My credit scores are in my sig. Also, it says you can choose what category you earn points for. I see one says 3x points. Do you need alot of points to redeem for a reward?

Your scores look nominal, but conventional wisdom is that when the APR range on a pre-qual or pre-approval is that wide of a range, it’s not a solid offer. I’m not sure that holds true with BBVA, but it seems to be true with many credit issuers. I’m sure some others on here with more experience than I and/or BBVA cardholders will have some additional input. If it were me though, I wouldn’t app with a wide APR range like that.

I got the same offer back in the fall and took the bait... so far the experience has been fine. If the 3x categories are useful to you and you don't already have another card that would cover them then you might consider it.

I got a similar offer a few months ago as well. Initially my app went pending, but was approved the next morning. So far no issues.

I would say your in, I got the same in nov 2017 with a 705 score, I ended up walking a way with a 12500.00 credit line

Since it says pre qualified and not pre approved I wouldn't think it's a guaranteed approval, but that you have a good chance for an approval.

Okay, I looked over a few posts and saw yours too. I was going to apply but, it says that Reservation Code was invalid. I called and they said that the people who reset codes are gone for the day. I'll call back Monday and see what is up. Thanks for the information! The link was very helpful.

I generally don't keep a balance, so I don't mind a high apr...sometimes.

Yeah, sorry , was more a comment on their highest rate which considering its not a retail store card is insanely high. If you go for it hope you get a better rate

I gott the same mailer. Since it has no annual fee and 3% on restaurants for me is better than 2% which happens to be a good down category for me why not. Plus 0% for 13 months can be helpful if u have a purchase u want to pay off.

Same issue with the reservation code. Called and they gave me another link which then said the product was not available on my state, but the offer clearly says it’s available to residents of me state. Anyway called back but they were closed. Will try again on Monday... but it seems messy that their application is so glitch prone.
