COnratulations on your build as to date! If you can resist pulling the trigger for a few month, say May then do it. Why May, it will be past your 1 year with Discover and your 6 month with US Bank. If your could get CLI on these two it would help your case drasticall yimproving your scores and your ULT % with a pontentially higher SL from Marvel. Wheather you get approved or not, you should go into the garden for some seasoning for at least April 2019. This will help you potentially get approved for higher tier cards such as CSR. If you want to get a CSR, you need to under the 5/24 rule ( 5 cards under 24 months ) Here is link that could help you keep track of when to ask for your CLI via SP ONLY, dont take a HP for CLI unless you really want that CLI. https://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html

Marvel MasterCard Approval Odds?

Hi guys!

Long time lurker here, posting for the first time so take it easy on me Smiley Happy

I’m wondering what my approval odds are for the Marvel MasterCard since it offers 3% cash back on theme parks/dining and I spend a considerable amount of money on both these categories every year.

My credit history started in March of this year, I’m 25, 30k income.

My first card was Discover It opened in March with a $1750 SL (I have gotten it up to $6800 with generous use of the luv button).

My second card was an AMEX BCE opened in April with a $1000 SL (was just recently auto-CLI’d to $3000 earlier this month).

My third card was a Capital One platinum MasterCard opened in May with a $300 SL. I got it PC’d to a Quicksilver with no AF and just recently got my credit steps increase to $500.

My fourth card was a U.S Bank Cash+ VISA Signature opened in October with a $500 limit. Sad, I know. Tried reconning the SL but no dice. They want to see 6 months of history first.

My fifth and final card so far is a Chase Freedom, opened in October with a $600 limit. This is the card I don’t even want to start poking the bear with so I didn’t even try poking the bear with a SL recon or CLI.

My AAOA is about 4 months with my longest account being Discover at 8 months and my TU FICO and EX FICO are 715, 700, respectively. My utilization across all my accounts varies between 0-1% since I pay everything off in full each month and the cards align with my regular spending habits.

Do you guys think I have a good shot? Thinking of making this my 6th and final card before I step into the garden for sure.

Many thanks!

Too many new accounts was the reason I got denied. All your cards were opened this year as well. Synchrony doesn’t do recons either in case you get denied.

I've got eight inquires on TransUnion, and still got two more synchrony cards after that point. From what I've read, the Marvel card is considered a more top tier card and harder to get. I would wait until your first inquiry has aged at least a year, then try. I think you'll have a better chance of approval and get a higher starting CL.

I've been considering getting the Marvel MC to replace my Cap 1 "starter" QS MC (upgraded from a Platinum), and I have several inquiries that will age to 1 year+ over the next couple of months so maybe sometime this spring or early summer to give my TU more time to build up. I'm waiting to see also if I get any preapproval/prequalification offers via mail, if they're still being sent out for this card; I got a preapproval last week for the BP gas card (also Sync) but I think I'll pass, I almost never buy gas at BP so there's no point getting that card.

P.S. Any data points yet as to the TU range (lowest/average)?

My TU is 676 as of right now so I'd like it to get at least into the 680's.
