Thanks to Concorduser I was able to get an AF lowered on one of my cc. I've never heard of or called an acct. ret. specialist before today. I was wondering has anyone had any success with this before. And if so who with?

I had some success with Discover card and BofA. I told Discover their rate was the highest among all of my cards and asked to lower it. They said it I should wait a month because 11 months ago I made a late payment and they call them again. But in meanwhile they offered 0% purchasing rate for 6 months. Didn't take the offer for obvious reasons, but will be calling back for APR decrease in 2 weeks.

BofA jacked APR out of blue, so I called retention department to complain. They brought APR down to previous level.

Capital One will almost always waive AF...I've only paid once in the 8 yrs I've been a customer. They also just recently lowered my APRs when I called to close one of the cards...I wasn't really going to close it, only combine 2, CSR misunderstood, lowered APR to keep me from closing it.

Last month, HSBC agreed to waive my AF after I requested the card be closed. Would be nice to have that done every year since it's one of my older cards, but I doubt they'll be so generous next time. I simply don't use it enough to impress them, I'm guessing.
