If he is interested in a travel card, Bank of America offers a travel rewards card in a student version that he would probably qualify for. As to the southwest card, I really don't know. Chase seems to be pretty picky about who they give cards to, but he may have better luck with them than me.

My son has 6 months of history with his Discover and a student loan. Score is at 684 at the moment.

He’s looking for a second card to build his portfolio. Chase Southwest is of interest due to the points bonus. What other options might be good. We are members of Penfed, Navy & RBFCU, so he can apply with any of them.

Thanks!

Has he tried the prequal to see what comes up for Chase? They also typically like a year of credit card use before they’ll approve.
