Started rebuilding my credit almost a year ago with capital one..started with the secured platinum starting limit 300. 6 months later got to 500 automatically. After about 10 months I got an email saying I graduated to unsecured platinum... I have tried the cli option twice and denied both times they said "recent change on account". Two weeks ago I upgraded to the no annual fee quicksilver mastercard version. This month on the 16th will be 1 year. Should I try for a cli after one year has passed? Will it be automatic increase? I wonder if the upgrade resets the 6 month wait between credit line increases. My score has gained about a hundred points...low 600s now if that helps.

Howdy and welcome to the forums!

As for an auto increase...CapOne has been known to do so but what triggers it is anyones guess. In regards to product changes, it has no bearing on your increase. Lastly, CapOne only allows for an increase once every 6 months. Doesn't matter if its an auto increase or a requested one...6 months in between is the rule with them. Wait until 6 months has passed since your last increase and try again. If you can remember when you last increase was then you can utilize their chat option and ask...they'll be able to provide you with said info.

Congrats on graduating to unsecured! When was the last CLI? They’re only allowed once every 6 months.

Since your scores have raised, I would look at your next step and get a different card. Check out the prequal for Discover.

I've upgraded my Platinum(unsecured) to Quicksilver and it did not reset the 6month cli timer. Just got an auto cli about 3 months after upgrading.
