If my high balance is >30% util on each of my open accounts, then whoever does the review understands there's at least the potential for me to run a lot through their cards.

I understand the business aspect of it, but the way I see it, there are many lenders to choose from. Unless you offered something unique and a cut above the competition, I'm not going out of my way to appease you. If it doesn't make financial sense for me to put spend on your card that month, then I'm not running any charges through it period. Only exceptions I'd make would be for my oldest account and/or highest CL card, but luckily so far I've had no issues putting several hundred dollars through it every month just from organic spending on groceries and gas.

You've come to your own conclusion. From your own words it seems that you've outgrown the usefulness of the card. There's nothing wrong with parting ways once the relationship is no longer fruitful for either. As consumers, we don't have to get emotional about it or take it personal...it's just time to move on and clearly, you've outgrown the need to have CapOne in your portfolio of cards.

Sometimes credit, like people, are only meant to be in your life for a specific period of time. Some are with you for the long haul and some are just a stepping stone to get you to the next level. Just because the relationship is worth little value to each party involved doesn't make the consumer or the company bad...it just means it no longer makes sense to continue said relationship. Appreciate the benefit that each has provided each other when the relationship was good and close the book on a happy ending. Try not to let emotions come into play...I can assure you no one at a lender is sitting there just waiting for the right moment to ruin your day.

I don't have a Capone card lol, and judging by the number of threads on these forums I see complaining of various issues, I doubt I ever will.

As you said, some credit products are only meant to be in your life for a specific period of time. Unless Capone is your oldest account or you absolutely need it to pad your util, I just don't see why one wouldn't simply close it if the CLD causes much aggravation. If anything, what you've wrote above is perfectly sound advice for those who no longer need the Capone card and have experienced a recent CLD.

Edit: Maybe I'm reading this all wrong, but I seem to sense some resentment/aggravation from some of these posts describing the CLD. I guess my reaction is "if you don't need the card or need it to pad your util, then just go ahead and close it and save yourself the emotional distress". Plus for every card Capone offers there's something better out there, so you're really not losing out on much.

you are, there is zero resentment/aggravation from anyone i have read that had this happen. who could care about a company who's cards are not competitive with what they currently own. that said, if CO existed just for builders/rebuilders then they have great merit and utility, I wish them well

That sucks. I hope mine won’t get a CLD too. I converted my Venture to Savor because I won’t be using it much and didn’t want to pay the annual fee.
It seems like credit card charge offs are rising again so lenders are tightening up. I cut down to 3 cards because that’s all I can really use regularly. This obsession with having tons of cards can be too tempting for some of us out here.😊

I have 4 Cap One Cards--2 Ventures @ $15K each...1 QS @ $7500...and a Union Plus Mastercard @ $5K--and I've never tried to combine any of them (even though I was originally going to) for this EXACT reason--all of the AA they've been taking lately. As of right now I put probably just enough spend on each to justify their current limits and keep them open. Although I may close Union Plus and QS eventually or ap for a new QS with hopefully a lower APR and roll them into one card.

PC to Savor CAP1 CLD.....

I saw another thread about Cap1 AA but mine is mostlikly due to PC since I had this credit line for over 3 years.

This is a warning to anyone that might be thinking about PC to Savor.

I received a CLD my first one ever. I am OK with it but definitely don't like losing $9500 after taking many years to get it to that point. If it would have been any more I would probably have closed it.

I really hope they do no CLD my DW card since it is only sitting at $4k.

Funny thing is we been spending tons on them since the PC.

Letter below to my email.

Our goal is to keep you informed about changes to your account and how they impact you. Today, we want to make sure you know about a recent change to your account.

On 03/11/2018, your credit limit was changed from $19,500 to $10,000. The reason(s) for this change:

•

Current account(s) not used enough for assigned credit limit(s)

•

Balance(s) on non-Capital One revolving trade(s) are too low

We have taken care to keep your credit limit significantly above your highest balance at any point in the last year. No other changes are planned at this time, and all other terms still apply. An official notice of this change, with additional information, will also be provided to you via mail and through the secure inbox with your online account.

We value you as a customer, and we hope this change doesn’t cause any inconvenience for you.

CO let everyone combine card for high limit cards for them to use on their products not for credit padding. If you were in the credit card business you would do the same.

Basically there is no value to keep you as a customer but still let you keep 10k as a consolation prize.

Got my first AA - Capital One

I saw at least one other thread where someone received the email about decreasing the credit line for lack of usage. I got my email this morning that they dropped my 25k limit to 10k. I am disappointed, but pretty understanding about it. I have not used the card on a regular basis for at least a year. This comes right on the heels of Bank of America sending a notification that my husband's account will be closed due to lack of usage (have not used the BofA card since 2014).

I think I am kind of settling now. I have been on and off these forums for 10 years now and I believe I have reached my happy place. My husband uses his Citi, I use Discover, and then we use Amex Blue Preferred for groceries.

I was meaning to close some cards, but I guess the companies will do it for me. It's been a good ride, though.

It’s at 41k now with little use.

U gotta be careful cos accounts $35k and over are kept under close watch and if u don’t utilize it significantly in ratio to the limit, chances are high that your limit will be reduced. That’s why I advise folks to stay away from account combinations that will put them at $30k and over especially if they barely use the card.

Cap1 has been known for reducing CL for "not using" the cards enough. From what I have read, they seem to be targeting accounts with credit lines of $30K plus.
