DISCOVER LUV BUTTON?

Hi! I applied for a Discover card 1st or 2nd week of December. I'm a bit confused with the CLI with Discover. I read 90-91 days. Is it 90-91 days since approval/activation/statements? Also, the LUV button. What does it look like? Is it on the Menu, saying request credit limit increase? I'm trying to build the CL with them. The CSR when I first got the card, said you can try in 2 months. I tried before, maybe it was a bit too early. Was denied,

"Not enough experience with current credit limit". Should I try again? Or wait for the 3rd statement to cut off. Thanks in advance for my very newbie question!

The Discover CLI page is a link rather than a button - you can access it from your "manage account" page. Generally, as the CSR says, you do need at least several months' experience with the account; I got my first CLI (Discover-initiated) at the third statement after I opened the account. So yes, once the 3rd statement has cut, you can give it another try.

I've seen varying reports of 30 day, 60 day and 90 day CLI cycles for Discover. I was approved for my card in late December. Tried in late January, denied. Tried in late February, denied. Was bored and tried again about a week ago (67 days after account opening) and was approved online for a $300 increase. Called customer service 10 minutes later and they gave me another $700. So your mileage may vary as to when they'll give that first CLI love, but make sure to call and request more as soon as they give you that first bump online.

Ok, was going to give it another shot today but statement doesnt cut until about 2 weeks. Is it better on day 91 or 90? Or wait it out more? Thanks again!

I basically just told them that I had a large purchase coming up and that I was hoping for a larger increase so I wouldn't have to max the card out. They put me on hold for 5 minutes. Said they could give me another $700. Or they could pull my credit and possibly give me more. But I didn't feel like taking the hard inquiry.

If you are on your home page of your Disco account,

next to the pic of the card, there is a link that says "card details"

If you click on that, there is a window that pops up and shows you limit and cash limit etc.

Some times, there will be another link in that window that says "request higher limit"

Now it is never a definite, but if it is there you may have better chances of a CLI,

but sometimes it is not there.

You can also use the menu for the request more if it is not there.

In 6 months.. still nothing popping up. Really wierd. Don't know if i should start playing hard to get and not use discover anymore for a few months. See what they do.🤣

Discover 6 months in, still no cli?

I just wanted to vent and ask for some kind advice. It's been 6 months since I've been with the discover family. Never had an issue. Always PIF for every balance. I did leave 800 balance last statement to test out if reporting a balance could make a difference. Was wrong.. I've read discover likes usage. It's been steady usages. Had about 7k-10k payments with them already ( I include them with bills ) but still nothing. I have been out of a dismissed ch7 lately but its been 1 1/2 years. Insufficient experience and derogatory pops up on DENIAL letters. I honestly am confused. My co worker said it took over 1 year before she got an auto cli. Dh as well with amex. I thought discover would be easier to handle. My 6th statement cut and hasnt reported yet... should I keep trying cli button or call them? Is there a number to call, or should I just forget it and wait for fate? Tia family.

You can keep clicking the button but the only thing you'll end up doing is killing a lot of trees and making yourself upset. Discover is an odd duck. There once was a time when a CLI with them was extremely easy, or at least for some of us. Those days have since gone and they hand out CLI's as they see fit. I noticed that there was no amount of spend that was making a difference with them so I stopped trying.

With Discover I've focused my energy on spending within their categories and have given up on the whole CLI deal...and not just with them, as a whole. My advice...use them for what you want, reap the benefits of the card and sometimes that means having to make multiple payments throughout the cycle if your limit is small. One day they'll open up...unfortunately know one really knows when. Don't let it get you down OP...

As folks have said.. Discovers an odd duck... but one thing i did notice was mention of BK by the op... This might be causing the CLI dry spell... OP said they were 1 1/2 years post discharge..... Know there was a period where discover wanted to see 2 years post discharge before granting a card, nevermind CLI.... And a few other banks have restrictions regarding wanting to see 2 years post BK...

Your card could also be stuck..... was it originally a secured card, and you wouldnt know what your scores were roughly at the time you apped.... Even if it was stuck.. I wouldn't try possibly opening a second Disco untill the 2 years are up and you cant try for one untill after youve had the card for a year... Hang in there...

Update: it was an unsecured card. 7 months in and 6 statements after. I got a cli! I had to double dip. Called representative right after the cli in app. 1500 extra!

What did you say to them for Discover CSR to give an additional cl increase? I'm trying to learning the tricks of the trade.
