Woo, buddy. If they stop transfers not only among household members and spouses but between cards as well I don't see how Chase justifies this. Makes getting the CSR pointless when you consider the other benefits being axed as well.

Idk seems like a stupidly big Nerf, but I'm gonna transfer all my points to my Sapphire just in case...

This is why it's good practice to diversify your points folks, even the best and most versatile overall points program can be neutered by a single nerfing!

Interesting that this rumor would appear within a few days of Chase announcing a new offer for the Freedom Unlimited (3% cash back for the first year). Could there be a connection?

I don't know about a connection but based on the DoC article about this I do think the writing is on the wall for them nerfing the UR rewards program. Maybe not today, maybe not this year, but eventually they will especially when this relates to the survey that was sent out to people about this possibility last year.

Just checked my g/f's account to transfer her points to mine and noticed that my account isn't there to combine points like it has for the last year and half. Now I can add it add on her account again but seems strange that it was removed at all.

Same. I still see value on the Freedom card just because of the 5% categories but any other card in the UR program meh.

Interesting. I'll find out myself for another datapoint when I transfer my GF's points to my CSR when I get back home.

Very strange Was able to combine the points between my cards but still can't from hers to mine

Yep. I literally just PC'd my CS into a FU card. If I'm not able to consolidate my points Chase is going to lose A LOT of business. I will also have to reevaluate whether I am going to keep the CSR going forward. Certinaly the Freedom Unlimited cards and the 5% freedom card would go right into the sock drawer never to be heard from again. I really don't understand the logic of a move like this.

I think it's an overstatement to think this is going to significantly impact Chase's overall card business. There's a lot of people who don't know and/or care about gaming the UR system with pooling and transfers, and for them this change will mean nothing.

The logic behind this is obvious - people are abusing the system by accelerating UR accumulation through other cards and/or combining cards (and sign-up bonuses) and Chase is tired of it. Can't fault them for that.

Of their offerings, I do agree the Freedom Unlimited is probably the most at risk of abandonment over this, but the CSR/CSP will still have a significant base. The CSR is a solid card even without the ability to pool points and as long as it retains the ability to transfer to airline partners, it will always have a significant user base.
