Chase has a strict rule of 5 new credit accounts in 24 months. I aleady count four bellow, so if you contine to apply for more, you will disqualify yourself for 2 years.

It sounds like with Chase you will need to wait or atleast anothe 3-6 months, and increase your balances with chase. I am guessing you have a relationship wiht them and they used that information for ability to pay.

Is there a specific Chase product you’re interested in besides the Freedom you were denied for? Freedom is good, but a similar product that’s much easier to get with a thin file is Discover It. I think with anoth 9-12 months age on your accounts and no more than 8.9% Util, you’d be in good shape.

If you open one more account by a different lender, you will not be able to get a chase card till July 2019.

In the past in branch pre approvals were able to bypass 5/24, not sure if that's still the case.

I was wondering that as well

You need AT LEAST of a year of history for Chase, many times it's 2 years. Also, you are showing FAKO scores. Do you have any FICO scores yet?

I didn't think banks issued CCs unless you had one... I know Amex requires a SSN and Wells Fargo offers unsecured cards only to citizens and permanent residents, both of which have SSNs. I remember when I applied for Discover 4 months ago I was asked if I was a US citizen or a permanent resident. I don't remember another option... They did ask for my social. I agree, calling them should clarify a lot of things, for them and for you.

Discover is hard-core about needing an SSN. When I moved to the US (also from Canada!) I had an SSN but my wife did not, she had only an ITIN. I could get a Discover card, but they wouldn't even let me add her as an Authorized User with just an ITIN, let alone open a card of her own.

Bank of America was willing to work with my wife's ITIN, as was CITI. With BoA I was able to get my original cards with them open with zero US credit history (but with a brand new SSN) by going into a branch, and in particular, one that is frequented by many people at the company I work for. I showed the relationship manager in branch my offer letter, opened up an account, and he put through a credit card application for me in some way that over-rode the auto decline I got from the system.

I would try going into a branch and dealing with them in person since with zero credit history the computer will absolutely just deny you, whereas a human being can probably assess your situation and maybe make a better decision. Chase may not do it but there are good cards with CITI and BoA that you could likely get that way.

I was just able to circumvent the 5/24 last week with a in branch offer I have 5 cards in the last year and 2 auto loans if that matters and was shocked when the branch told me I had 8 different offers. So I jumped on the freedom unlimited I wanted and was told almost always approve or deny I'll get either the card or a letter they don't tell you that day. But I was approved for 4300 instantly the guy was shocked that it told him instantly he said that was unusual.

What type of balance do you have in your chase checking/savings or investment accounts? That may be a factor as well.

I currently do not have an account with Chase, but may have to look into driving to Rochester to open a checking and savings account with them.

So, since you're from Canada, what happens to your Canada credit cards, could you still use it in the US?

I can use my Canadian cards in the Us and my us cards in Canada.

My Canadian credit card and 20 year credit profile remains in tact. It just keeps aging.

I can use my credit cards Canadian or US ones interchangeably.
