trying for discover IT cli

im curious if you try for a discover cli and get denied will that hurt your chances for getting one in the future? or can i just keep trying every month or so?

ive been trying every month lately i was getting denied

but this month i tried again and got another 500, which is what ive been getting as of late when they approve it

this is my second statement so i decided to try for a cli and was denied my transunion is my highest score which is 702

You can try however many times you like without affecting future chances though once a month probably best or every 3 months. Lol I used to hulk smash all the time back in the day but I find you are either qualified for one in the moment or you aren't.

Not too sure about repeated requests but just FYI I've had my disco for less than 2 years and had my SL doubled through 2 separate auto cli's in first 12 months. Just put in my first requested cli today and they doubled my current CL (been at least 3/4 months since last auto cli). Put good use through it during gas quarter this year but havent touched it since grocery due to BCP. May have to give them a little love this month since they gave me some.

No, frequent requests will not hinder your chances of future CLIs.

I went a period of about 35 weeks where I was requesting a Discover CLI every single week. I have enough Discover CLI denial letters to wallpaper my bathroom. Literally. It didn't hurt my chances though, as I still was able to receive solid ($3k-$5k) CLIs. My limit is > $34k now, so frequent requests don't hinder growth.

When my Discover IT card unsecured last month and I got my refund back I hit CLI for fun to see what would happen. I didnt ask for very much either, probably another $500 and I got denied because since i just got a CLI I dont have enough experience with this account.

Guess i'll be trying again in a few months

I'd check to see what reason they give on the front side of the letter they send you to explain why your CLI request was turned down (they may list other reasons on the back, but those are usually filler/boilerplate). I attempted a CLI last week, was declined, and got the letter on Monday. The reason given on the front side of the letter was "not enough experience at current credit limit", which translates to, "You're not using your card enough at the credit limit you have right now to justify an increase". The solution to that, fortunately, is pretty simple; use the card more actively/frequently and PIF whenever you can, and try again in a few months. With luck you'll get a CLI then.

that was the exact reason given "not enough experience at current credit limit"
