Closing a Chase Card , repercussions?

Seeing a recent post on Chase closing a members account and having responses such as take your points now you can always reapply later for same card got me wondering something. I didnt want to hijack thread so im interested in anybody's experience with this question.

If you close a credit card, even earlier than a full year, will that have future repercussions on applying for same card or even other Chase cards? I have a paranoia that I've been Steven Seagal'd MARKED FOR DEATH, with Chase lol.

I closed my Amazon card early as I felt it or I would never get any growth with Chase due to my income but could that closing my account affect me applying in future?. Thanks for any replies just interested to see how this is viewed.

I don't think so, many cards require between 12-18 months before reapplying for the same card after closure. Not sure about Chase's rules, but I could have sworn I seen 18-24 months somewhere. Might have been the southwest app's fine print because that's the last chase card related thing I looked at.

No repercussions at all. I closed a Disney Premier CC out maybe six months after getting it. I haven't seen anything negative from it. I used it as a doner card for other more useful Chase cards.
As SBIH states, there's a waiting period in order to receive rewards or subs for the same card. Normally it's a 24 months waiting period.

They may be keeping tabs on the so-called high-end cards with the big SUBs like CSR and CSP, but I'm sure you're fine.

oh, that's what it was...you can't receive the bonus without waiting a certain amount of time. Disregard my earlier comment. lol

Well.... Chase has fairly recently included language like this in many (all?) of their cards:

Under reasons you could lose all your rewards (this is from United MileagePlus Explorer) we believe that you’ve misused this program in any way, for example: · by repeatedly opening or otherwise maintaining credit card accounts for the purpose of generating rewards

So closing one card shortly after opening (and getting a bonus) is probably fine, doing it a few times, less so!

For sure the bonus chasing, lol, I understand, wont look good to get bonus then close before a year. The one I can understand is if you get a card that then has an AF and you dont want to pay it. Probably closed my only Chase card too early but maybe in 2 years I'll revisit options.

Not necessarily, just about closing it too early lol. But what's done is done and I'm ok with my Amazon store card. .You know how we get those moments where you think back and maybe acted hastily , lol, that was probably mine. But its Chase so I wont lose sleep over not having a Chase
