NFCU product change

Hi everyone,

Happy weekend!!! I have a question about NFCU. I have 2 credit cards with NFCU and am wondering if they do product changes. I have a Platinum card and was wondering if Navy would change it to a Flagship. I know the minimum for it is $5000 but my limit is higher on the Platinum. Is it possible to change?

Yes, Navy will do PCs. APRs will generally be adjusted up or down when moving from one product to another.

One important note to make is that Navy FCU doesn't follow the terms of the CARD Act.

@For example, you can PC from a Platinum @ 12.49% APR to a Flagship @Anonymous.99% APR and a $49 AF within days of getting approved for the Platinum, and they'd do it.

That’s an interesting point. I think it has to do with how the legal teams at each lender read it. Certainly the intent of the CARD Act was to protect the consumer from the bank doing a bait and switch and hiking up rates, but most lenders have decided the language means that neither an APR nor an Annual Fee can be increased in the first year, even if at the consumer’s request.

When you did your recent product change from Platinum to Flagship, was it Visa-to-Visa, or was it MasterCard-to-Visa? If the latter, they would need to have changed the account number because of the change of payment networks, and I'm wondering if that triggered a "new card" to report in the credit bureaus. Did the card history carry over to the new card?

Visa to Visa Signature. The card number changes because of the card designation.

I'm still looking for someone who has done a product change at NFCU from Visa to MasterCard or from MasterCard to Visa. Anyone tried this?
