Anybody know what these points are worth in a direct cash for purchases? so If I redeem 15,000 points on purchases made.

Irish, isn't the MR points worth $90? $150x.60 for cash redemptions I thought.

You are correct. Redemptions to cover charges are $.006. They do occasionally have promotions to get giftcards for .01 or more. My everyday preferred allows me to get 20% bonus on gift card purchases through May I believe. If you have the Schwab Platinum you could redeem for $187.50

I believe using points with Best Buy, Amazon and Newegg (there may be others) is still $0.007 per MR. Marginally better than statement credit at $0.006, but not much. Best redemption value will always be with travel partners, and you may be able to get better than $0.01 per MR with the Amex Travel portal. Even on Delta, 15k MRs transferred to SkyMiles should be enough for the majority of Main Cabin domestic one-ways.

0.7 cpp for Amazon (various promos may improve this a little)

0.5 cpp for Amex gift cards

0.6 cpp for "Cover your card charges"

Those MR points I tell ya lol. I let mine pile up, buy GCs that are on sale, then I sell them. I usually get more than .01 by waiting until they have a GC sale.

You net more than 1c per MR after selling the cards? What is the discount?

Yes, after selling. Home depot GCs were on sale last I looked. $100 for 8k MR. I sold each GC for 84 after fees and all. It wasnt much on that deal but sometimes there are better deals. I got about 1.3 cents per point when they had Ruth Chris GC on sale.

Apart from EDP groceries and Platinum flights, MR earn rates aren't very high for people who want cash or GCs. I once flushed some away when I was new to Amex, but that was an early error. There may be a more suitable rewards program than MRs for getting discounted gift cards.
