Hey everyone how's it going. After a few weeks of lurking around the forum I have finally decided to join.

I've been rebuilding credit and it's been going fairly well. I've been approved for 3 cards lately. A zales card, target, nordstorm, and have my discover secured card. Any how I've been seeing that some members here are able to get approved for some of the prime cards in the mid 600ish rangs and I've been contemplating applying in the future but my main concern is the burea challenge (which burea will they pull). I've noticed that the prime cards have been pulling from experian and recentley most of my approvals came from experian. My concern is since I do have a few baddies that have not fallen off can I risk applying for a "easier to be approved" card and chance it pulling from a different burea or should I garden until my score is a bit higher and see if that is sufficent enough to be approved.

My current score is 646tu | 653 ef | fico 612

I've checked it out and NY seems to be experian central. I am ideally looking into an amex blue. I've burned capital one in the past so that's a no no for now and barclays I'm iffy about them.

Are your TU and EQ scores FICO or Vantage 3.0 (aka FAKO) that you got from one of the free sites like Credit Karma?

Since you're in the early stages of rebuilding you might want to also consider looking into some of the credit union offerings, as many of them pull from either TU or EQ. However, if your TU and EQ FICO 8 scores are close to your EX score you can still expect difficulty in getting approved for an unsecured card from a non-predatory lender.

AMEX pulls Experian FICO 8. Stranger things have happened but EX 612 is a very low score by AMEX standards for approval, even for a charge card.

Amex is definitely Experian. I've read that they are more concerned about 6mo of credit, and a decent FICO score than a thicker file. What score? Some say near 700, others say mid600s.

Others with more experience will post more info, suggestions.

I look at the score from my chase & discover account apps. It seems like I should just ditch ef and tu because experian seems to be where it's at these days.

So your "646tu" is Chase Vantage3 TU? And your "fico is 612" is TU FICO score from Discover?

How long have you had your cards?

@Anonymous wrote:

I look at the score from my chase & discover account apps.

The Chase TU is a Vantage3 score. Your Discover card should provide a TU FICO score. You can check it in your online Discover account.

The Amex 612 is your EX FICO (Experian) score. You've mentioned Chase... Do you bank there? That could come in handy later, after you build your credit for a while.

Sears.. your card, or as an AU?

@Anonymous wrote:

Here is my breakdown of my cards

Fingerhut 3yrs 9months

Sears 22yrs 9months

discover 11months
Indigo 1yr 5months - closed.

Everything else that I applied for recentley will be joining the family.

Chase tu is 646. 612 is what AMEX reported from the pull.

Sears - Authorized User and yep I bank at chase. I was wondering if I am added on as a authoized user on someone with more established credit will it help considering that I have a few baddies on my cr. I am looking into an action plan of applying for 2 more secure cards, become a authorized user on 2 other cards, and garden until I graduate to a un-secured card.
